A story about motherhood, grief and loss with some suspense and mystery. It's told in the alternating voices of Laurel and Corey. Both women are struggling. Laurel has moved into a new home on Cold Creek Lane with her husband and two very young children. She is trying to fit into the neighbourhood. Corey is living with her Mother at a Retirement Facility. She is not happy with her life.
I enjoyed the writing and the story. I listened to this one and both narrators were very good. Towards the end this one was more of a 3.5 stars. I liked the ending! It was an entertaining story and I'd gladly read another one from this author.

I've heard of Edith Wharton the famous author but I've never read anything by her (now I want to look up her books!) I enjoy stories in the Gilded Age so that in itself drew me to this book.
The narrator has a perfect voice and inclination for the era.
This is a fictitious account of a murder that occurs and Edith Wharton becomes a bit of a sleuth in trying to solve the crime.
I really enjoyed Edith and her life around this period. She's 49 years old and starting to feel old. She's stuck in a loveless marriage and still writing her stories. One day she meets a fellow author whom she dislikes right away. The next day he is found dead! Edith is surprised but also intrigued and starts to dig for answers.
I enjoyed meeting Edith. She's a bit snobbish but she rubs shoulders with the upper class so that's not surprising especially in that era. She does have a kind heart though. Where the book missed the mark a little for me was the mystery. I would have enjoyed a bit more complexity. Overall, I was entertained and it's a good book.

This is a Christian Historical Fiction novel. While I usually don't read this genre I decided to give this a try as I love books set in the Gilded Age. It did not disappoint!
The story begins with the passing of the wealthy Arthur Stanhope. He leaves behind his wife, mother and unmarried daughter. He also leaves his vast fortune to a distant male cousin. His wife Sylvia is at her wits' end. She is scrambling to marry off her youngest daughter, Adelaide to a wealthy man before it becomes known that the family has lost their fortune. Junietta, Arthur's mother feels her granddaughter Addy should marry for love. Will she be able to sway Sylvia's mind? Junietta tries by beginning to tell Sylvia and Addy her life story. The book then begins to go back and forth in time.
It's a beautifully written story that is well narrated. I loved the narrator's tone and inflection. It was perfect for the time period.

I really enjoy Sarah Ready's books and they are fantastic on Audio too! This is the second book from the, "Ghosted" series. It can most definitely be read as a standalone. The series is a fun and unique concept.
Serena is a physicist and Star Trek junkie (she's Gillian's best friend from the first book.). She meets the strait laced British man, Henry and one night sparks fly. Literally! There's an electrical storm and suddenly their bodies switch! It's a fun story. I liked the first one slightly more than this one but still an entertaining listen ⚡️⚡️⚡️

This one is emotional and amazing on Audio! This is my first novel by this author but not my last. Boy can she write!
Andrea comes from the Upper West Side in Manhattan from a very rich family. Jace is a struggling musician from the Bronx. They fall in love and yes rather quickly. Yup it sounds cliché but there is SO much more to the story!
This is Andrea and Jace's story from beginning to end and all about "the space between." It's filled with love, heartache, and lies.
I was fully immersed in this story from start to finish. I love when a story throws me for a loop!

The audio is very entertaining. These are 3 novellas about members of an aristocratic family, the Alnwick's. Their ancestral seat is, Leedswick Castle in Northumberton, England. Each story involves some type of War.
The first story is called, The Truth Keepers.
This is Beatrice and Charles' story and my favourite one! It is centred around The Gilded Age which always fascinates me. Beatrice lives in NYC but when something embarrassing happens at a society function she is shipped off to England to find a husband. There she meets Charles who is the heir to Marquess Alnwick. He is currently an Earl. There is a rumour going on about him about his Wartime service. The two agree to marry but all is not calm. There is a mystery and curse they must battle and solve and hopefully love will prevail.
The second story is called, The Memory Keepers.
This is Elena and Tobias' story. Tobias is the Grandson of Beatrice and Charles. This story takes place around WW I era and Tobias has returned from war facially disfigured. His parents hire an artist who now makes masks for the wounded soldiers. Elena is full of spunk and their relationship is set but they must battle to stay together.
The third story is called, The Dream Keepers.
This is Alec and Brigitta's story. Alec is Elena and Tobias' son. This story takes place in the WW II era and Alec has come home from war and wants to help the soldiers with shell shock. He has written to a famous psychologist and has an idea to open his castle up to the soldiers that need help. The Doctor sends his niece to go to the castle and try experiments on the soldiers by analyzing their dreams and nightmares to help them overcome their mental pain. While this was somewhat interesting I could not really get into the couple. The story was a bit dull compared to the others.
All in all a great concept and effort by all three authors. Nice storytelling!

My first novel by this author and I did enjoy the writing style. This is part of a series but I found I could follow along with no problem at all. I believe it can be read as a stand alone. I listened to the audio and I very much enjoyed the narration.
This is Lelya and Sean's story. Layla owns a bakery and her brothers are all cops in the local town that she lives in. Sean is in town for her brother's wedding. He hangs around after the wedding and becomes involved in solving a crime. One of Layla's employees is found murdered in the alleyway of her bakery.
This is a Romantic Suspense/Mystery story that at times had a Cozy Mystery vibe to it. I really enjoyed the beginning of the story and the buildup to the mystery. It fizzled a bit midway but it was still entertaining. I would have liked a little more suspense. The audio was very well done. The narrator did a great job with her tone and expressions.

Eliza works as a ladies maid for an aristocratic family in London, England. She is told about a letter that her employer has received from her father. He is a wealthy and prominent businessman in New York City, USA. He fell in love with her mother on a visit to England many years ago but their different class backgrounds did not allow for a union between the two and her father returned to America. Now Eliza's mother has recently passed and she is summoned to go and live in New York with her father's family.
This was a wonderful story and the descriptions of the New York City society and all the people and places of that time were vividly portrayed. I felt like I had slipped back in time. It had everything from a high society class family, to a big old NY Italian style family portrayed throughout. I very much enjoyed the writing style. I understand this is Pamela Kelley's first historical fiction novel but she does have quite an extensive back catalogue of books set in a modern day Nantucket Beach and Restaurant series that I am interested in checking out. The narration was just lovely and perfect for the story.
I absolutely loved Ms. Kelley's "Nonna's Ravioli" recipe at the end of the book. A nice added touch!

I listened to the Audio and once again it was an excellent narration by Erin Mallon. She perfectly brings out the character of Gemma!
We left Josh and Gemma in a good place in the first book. Things were finally coming together. I liked the concept of this second book. It was interesting and the turn of events took me by surprise in the beginning. Things wavered a bit in the middle but I still liked this one. I'm not sure if it was needed but their love has certainly been solidified by the telling of this story. As far as a happily ever after one just never knows with Josh & Gemma!

Amelia is a divorced mother of two young children. She's a very likeable character. She moves into a new neighbourhood in Houston, Texas with her kids. She sets up some garden gnomes in her front yard. The Homeowners Association representative, Carla informs Amalia that these gnomes go against the rules for the neighbourhood. Are you kidding me? Amalia can't believe that her childrens beloved gnomes are such a problem. She meets Kyle Sanders, the HOA President who really is on her side but his hands are tied. The rules are the rules. Now Amalia is set for a fight to overturn the rules and keep her kids life as happy and balanced as could be.
The writing is good and it's a fun, light-hearted type of story with some added heavy issues. I really think I would have enjoyed this one more had I straight read it instead of listened to it. I did not really enjoy the narration at all. She spoke in an over-the-top and robotic way. Almost like the cozy mystery narrators. There was a sort of Hallmark movie cheesiness to it so perhaps it was intended.
I would recommend this book but I'd pass on the audio this time.

I must say I was delightfully surprised at just how much I enjoyed this story. A truly entertaining ROM-COM that I devoured! I expect this book to be a MAJOR hit this year! I listened to the audio masterfully narrated by Erin Mallon. I was captivated and could not stop listening to it. This book fills you with many different emotions. It made me smile, and laugh out loud and then there were some tender and sad moments.
Gemma and Josh are both such likeable characters. Gemma is 32 and a divorcee. She has endometriosis but is longing for a child. She's known Josh her whole life as he is her brother's best friend. She wants to try IVF but needs a sperm donor and decides Josh would be perfect. The story takes off right from the start.
This is my first Sarah Ready book but it will definitely not be my last. What a talented storyteller! I HIGHLY recommend this one!!

Well...I must say I really did not enjoy it much.
It's an odd book. The audio did catch my attention at the very beginning but it did not last long. The narrator was very slow and pronounced but I did feel okay with that in the beginning as everything was being set-up as being, "perfect." Then...it started to grate on my nerves.
I know many have enjoyed this story and feel it took a clever turn. For me it was just strange and not very entertaining.
