What to say about this book. I felt like it started off well, I could get with Peyton and how she had a rough start with her family telling lies for literally all her life, she didn't have many people to lean on and when she and her family moved back to her mom's home town she had no one.
I loved the friend group with the guys, I felt like they were tight and their dynamics, and banter were great. Peyton did fit in with them at the beginning, I felt like it was a smooth transition, and you could tell she was wanting a little piece of all of them.
I think that the drama with Leah (Peyton's step sister) and the rest of her family was over the top, and sometimes I can get with the over the top dramatics, if it works within the book. This books dramatics I felt was A LOT, like Peyton couldn't catch a break anywhere. Left and right she was being tormented, the only safe haven she had was with her 6 guys.
The adults in this book were off their rockers, they literally wouldn't believe Peyton when there was evidence she wasn't lying, she was being abused by most of them, physically, emotionally and verbally. I think that the amount of stupidness brought on by the parents was at the level of Pretty Little Liars (the TV show since I remember nothing of the books haha), the fact that they were so oblivious to regular normal parent things was just mindblowing. And that they could let their underage children just run around trying to find a killer, yeah.. okay that was that tangent, but I felt like the parents in this book really didn't look in to logic, and they were just as bad as their spoiled children.
I did love the little kids that the boys had to take care of, Maisy and Clay, they were precious.
I don't know if it was just me but I felt like sometimes Peytons actions didn't match her character at times. Especially the end. (view spoiler)[ When she felt so alone, I get that, this whole book the whole town pretty much wanted her gone in some form or another. I think that the argument that she overheard with Mr.Issac (who she should call Loch, since she you know wants him) and a few of the guys talking about how Peyton was like a toy and how they might fight if they don't all get to share her properly, and so Peyton decided that (after getting no context on how the conversation was progressing or anything, just miscommunication again..), that was the tip of the iceberg and rode her motorcycle in the torrential down pour, and wanted to pretty much end it.
She did try and see her mother first at the diner where she worked, but learned that she left with another man, and didn't tell Peyton, and Crew was seen with his ex at the diner, and Peyton couldn't take it so she left and went to the bridge. I think that when the boys found her (Crew mainly), and he took her to his house to get her cleaned up, they did fool around some... I get that she wanted to feel close to someone after that whole ordeal but it didn't feel like it was the right time for all of that to be happening.. And then the boys came over discussed that she wanted to end it because she just felt so unwanted and unloved, but then after I felt like that life altering news was just discussed and then the book ended. I did read the beginning of the second book and the suicide attempt wasn't really brought up, it was your regular scheduled programming. I feel like that should have either been handled differently.
Also that dumb grey sedan, I feel is just there for action purposes, I think it could be either Ava, Sean or her mom. Some big twist that will be found out in the second book. (hide spoiler)]
I am going to read the second book because I wanna see where this group of friends/lovers goes. Overall this book was okay, not the greatest that I have read, but the writing style did keep me hook, and that is why I stuck with it. ...more
Okay this started out as a good angsty stepbrother/stepsister enemies to lovers situation. I will say this is3ish stars...probably lower to be honest.
Okay this started out as a good angsty stepbrother/stepsister enemies to lovers situation. I will say this is the first stepbrother/stepsister taboo relationship book I have ever read.
This book started out promising, when they were enemies you could really feel the sexual tension and the banter was top notch, but when they started in a relationship that is kinda when it went downhill for me.
Don't know if this is really a big spoiler, but if you don't care feel free to read it. It has to do with what I didn't like about the book. (view spoiler)[So Mercy's mom is pregnant with Roarks dad's babies... which if you understand that, both Mercy and Roark will have blood related step siblings related to both of them... which is a little too much for my brain to handle I guess. haha so that was the first thing that kinda turned me off to the book.
The other thing was the parents were rarely present and I felt like if we wanted to really understand any of the parent child dynamic, this book just did a lot of telling rather than showing. Also Mercy's mom is not equip for having more children since she sucked the first go around with Mercy.
Also Mercy wasn't super trusting of Roark when he was doing nothing to compromise her trust... I think that they just didn't communicate properly and sometimes I am okay when that happens... but they were miscommunicating a lot towards the end where I started to get annoyed at both characters. (hide spoiler)]
The main thing that bugged me was the ending, it felt like there were some disconnects with both parties, as well as what the heck happened in the story. (view spoiler)[Like Roark totally said, "I Love you" to Mercy when he was fishing out the condom from her vagina.... (which didn't know a condom could slip off during sex and get stuck in a vagina but ya know you learn something new everyday)!
But that is besides the point, when they were at Homecoming Mercy eavesdropped on Roark and Britt and didn't get the full story so when Roark was going to explain himself and said he loved her and she was like "that is the first time you have ever said that" I got so confused...
ALSO WTF WITH THEIR PARENTS WALKING IN ON THEM IN A HOTEL ROOM HAVING SEX.... did they not properly lock a hotel door.. there is that chain lock for that specific purpose children!!! (hide spoiler)]
SOOO overall very underwhelming read for me when I really loved Chloe Walsh's other series Binding 13. So if you want a good read by her check that book out... probably don't start with this one. ...more

Molly and Noah were just perfect together. I just wish I could reread this book for the first time! I can't put in to words how much I loved this book. Karla Sorensen doesn't disappoint that is for sure, I have read almost, if not, all of her books and each one just get better and better. She is definitely one of my top one click authors.
I am so pissed that we have to wait until summer to get Claire's book! EVERYONE READ THIS BOOK!...more
