We finally have Alpha’s story!! I’ve been obsessed with him ever since his appearance in The Emperor - I was taking all crumbs our Runyx gave away lol. His book didn’t disappoint, trust me, get ready for the ride.
I have to say that I wasn’t expecting Zephyr - take all my money, Queen. You are my second crush after Amara ...more
How to function after this duet? Did I finish the book or did the book finish me? Let me tell you my whole reading ride. It's short, I promis 5 stars
How to function after this duet? Did I finish the book or did the book finish me? Let me tell you my whole reading ride. It's short, I promise.
I started this book after I got home, couldn't stop turning page after page, I looked at the clock and it was 2.30 so I forced myself to sleep, I dreamt of any theories I had been thinking before actually falling asleep, and I woke up at 5.00 to resume my reading. THAT amazing was this book.
Black Thorns resumes right after the cliffhanger from Red Thorns. Which I really appreciate because I needed answers - and those I got.
When Rina mentioned that this book was her angstiest book, believe her. My therapist can testify it, lol. The emotional ride wasn't a joke!
Naomi and Sebastian have a very, very special place in my heart! You definitely can feel their love, their connection, their need. I won't go into details because YOU need to discover it. I will only say, expect the unexpected, and Sebastian did apply to the 'boy-obsessed trope as I was suspecting in Red Thorns lol. *happy dance*
If you have stalked her, then you know about her upcoming Empire series. Sebastian's uncle. Nathaniel will be the first one to go and I CANNOT wait for his book. Daniel and Knox will have their books as well and OMG! My DanielNicole heart can't wait!!!! (sue me)
Also we are getting crumbs from Damien and (view spoiler)[ MIO!!!!! Omg, take my money and soul but I need their books so muchhh! Please please Rina omg give us a duet or trilogy. DamienMio riseeee!! (hide spoiler)]
I definitely enjoy reading Thorns duet. Usually, in duets, I normally like the second book best but in this case, wow, or more like in Rina Kent's case because there isn't a book from her Mafia that I have not to like. There is something in her writing, her characters, the suspense she creates that catches you and won't let you go.
I have yet to read the rest of her books - RES series, re-read Kingdom duet, etc. But I'm sure I will enjoy them as much as I enjoy her new books. ...more
Holy Jesus and all the angels I DID NOT EXPECT THIS CLIFFHANGER. Or maybe I did because this is not my first Rina Kent rodeo, but lord, I'll 5 stars
Holy Jesus and all the angels I DID NOT EXPECT THIS CLIFFHANGER. Or maybe I did because this is not my first Rina Kent rodeo, but lord, I'll probably never going to get used to it, she always surprises me. Get all the theories you want, she will always be ahead and say ''Surprise bish''
I absolutely loved this book, I missed her High School Bully Romance so much - not that I am not happy with her Bratva's books. Those, my friend, are very, very special to me.
I was very intrigued by Naomi in Lies & Truths Duet I'm always in when h has this sarcastic, I hate everyone, smart mouth thingy lol sue me, so when Rina confirmed their books I was ecstatic.
Sebastian was the surprise of the day, I should say. I liked him in the previous duet, I was curious about his relationship with Naomi, about the bet, and all BUT I didn't expect this Sebastian from Red Thorns
' It might have started with my twisted urges, but they soon mixed with her own fantasies, and now we're just two fucked-up souls feeding off each other's depravity. We're two monsters who made peace with the darkness'
Naomi and Sebastian. One definition: made for each other. They were wild, too raw, too just them. The fact that Naomi could see behind Sebastian's mask and that he knew basically almost everything from her, and also the fact that he calls her 'My Naomi', my lord - Does he apply to the 'boy obsessed trope'? I think yes, but I will have my answers in Black Thorns, lol.
I really want to scream because I'm kinda suspecting something but I don't want to mention it because it's definitely spoilers and I want YOU to experience the same shock I went through. Trust me, you ain't see it coming.
But on a good side note, we have a new character that, if you have followed Rina Kent's social sites, you know this character will have its own book. Nathaniel Weaver. wow, that was so powerful I can't wait for his book, because it'll have one of my favourites tropes - Age-gap.
Everyone has a match. A fit. Yin to Yang, light to darkness. It's when we fight it and judge it that we run into problems
Seriously, 4.25 stars
Everyone has a match. A fit. Yin to Yang, light to darkness. It's when we fight it and judge it that we run into problems
Seriously, I didn't know what to expect since I rated Ruthless Creatures 2.5 stars. But SERIOUSLY! This book! I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard with a book but I can tell you that this one excelled A+ for the banter.
I'm still not very familiar with the Beautifully Cruel Series (still on my tbr!) so I wasn't very familiar with Declan, but I know Sloane from RC and I was so excited for her story! This book didn't disappoint at all!
╰☆☆ Characters ☆☆╮
Sloane Keller a.k.a The Queen
I can safely say that Sloane is the highlight of this book. I loved her in Ruthless Creatures, and I loved her in this book. She had the awesome comebacks I can come up with, seriously!
“Your parents are brother and sister, aren't they?” “Oh, look, we finally have something in common!”
Godzilla could come crashing through the door, and she'd probably tell him calmly to piss off, then go right back to whatever she was doing. I can't pick which scene was my favourite! LOL, I think I highlighted the whole book. Sloane was
[image] And I think that's beautiful.
Declan O'Donell a.k.a The Terminator
I really liked Declan! He was so dominating, possessive, sexy, caring, could match Sloane smartass, and that says a lot!
“Gino’s Pizza, may I take your order?” Over the line comes the growl of an infuriated grizzly bear. “Aye, I’ll give you a bloody order. Get your arse off that plane before I blow your little boy toy to smithereens.”
I still wished we could've had more from his POV! But I still enjoy his character so much!
Kieran and Spider a.k.a Sloane cheerleader team
“They seem like they’re in good moods,” “That’s because their fearless leader has returned.” “Aw. It must be a good feeling for you to have such loyal men.” His voice turns dry. “I wasn’t talking about me.”
There is not much about them but they were favourite characters! I loved how they slowly fell for Sloane's charms and called her Our lass! I'm softie.
╰☆☆ Overall opinion ☆☆╮
I would have rated this book a big 5 stars, but I feel like the pace was very fast that I couldn't enjoy it fully, and when there was a promising scene, it wasn't deeply explored as I wished. Nevertheless, I still enjoy this book and would definitely recommend it! Sloane and Declan were so perfect for each other. It was refreshing to have Sloane, our Declan didn't even stand a chance!...more

As expected. Rina Kent ruined me again. How can I function again after finishing this amazing trilogy? Now I understand the numb feeling. What a way to end this amazing trilogy.
I absolutely love Lia and Adrian. It was unpredicted and now I just can't get enough of them!
We got our answers and as expected of Rina Kent, expect the unexpected lol. This is why I am so obsessed with her stories. You just don't know what is about to hit you but you know it will be amazing. Her villains and heroines are something else - they made me obsessed. Love them!
I'm so happy to have a fighter Lia. She was determined to not make the same mistakes from the past, to fight for Adrian, and to get better for her son and him. She was more confident and stronger, I stan!
I wanted to throw a shoe at Adrian in TbD lol. His love is not easy, hell, he didn't understand that emotion and for that, he almost loses Lia. After reading their past, I just can't help but love him in VoD. It's like realising all the events and your heart can't take it.
I loved Adrian’s character development so freaking much! He said he didn't understand that emotion but the man was just so in love with Lia that even when he thought she cheated on him he wouldn't kill her or let her go and after the accident when Lia thought she was Winter, he was determined to bring Lia out and start over.
Their relationship in this book was the best. I just can't express how proud I am of them. All lies, all the unspoken words, all the determination, wow. They are so perfect for each other!
There is a surprise in the epilogue so prepare your heart because it's cute and I can't wait (won't say but just know I can't wait lol)
As always, Kirill and Damien are, cross my heart and chef kiss, the best. I loved Adrian and Kirill's frienemy relationship and I can't wait to see more in Kirill's book because that man is going down for Sasha lol. And as for Damien, this brute has a soft side and you can't deny it! His book will be the end of me, mark my words. I need a troublemaker couple!
Thank you, Rina, ❤️ for writing and sharing this amazing story! I just can't wait to read more :)...more
Wow! If I couldn’t find the exact words to describe how amazing Vow of Deception was, I’m utterly speechless for this book. From the 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow! If I couldn’t find the exact words to describe how amazing Vow of Deception was, I’m utterly speechless for this book. From the beginning to the end, everything was freaking amazing. A true page-turning!
After the events of Vow of Deception, we know Winter is the real Lia, and just like that, the book ended. In this book, we got to see how Lia and Adrian met, and a lot of questions were answered but at the same time, they left more questions that I can’t wait to unveil in Consumed by Deception!
I loved “Winter” in Vow, loved that she wouldn’t allow Adrian to impose his decisions on her without a fight - even if he did it for a reason- I always stan a strong h without falling into the annoying category. I was a bit curious about how the real Lia was since it was implied by Adrian that “Winter” was a lot different from his Lia, but I was so wrong. The real Lia was a lot different from the mute and sick fragile wife that was described in the Throne duet. Lia was a very talented prima ballerina with a traumatic past, she only lived for Ballet. Struggling with mental health and surrounded by fakeness and envy, and with only a few caring about her, she was still the best at what she loved.
Adrian was still too hot and TOO much to handle. Adrian’s love for Lia was raw, possessive, obsessive, suffocating. The always controlled Adrian was in charge of control when it came to Lia. And we finally got bits of Adrian's childhood and I really wanted to rescue that child – both his parents were garbage and Adrian suffered childhood trauma.
Lia and Adrian’s relationship was complicated, uncontrollable, toxic, hot, and with lots of ✨miscommunication✨ but they also had those moments that you can’t help but say lord I want that compatibility.
We know their past now, I can't wait to see their future.
I am beyond words to describe how amazing this book is! I know our Rina Kent always delivers great stories but this one is pure se 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am beyond words to describe how amazing this book is! I know our Rina Kent always delivers great stories but this one is pure sensational and it’s only the beginning of the ride.
We met Lia and Adrian in Throne Duet and you won’t let me lie that they picked your interest - a silent but deadly Adrian and his mysterious wife Lia.
After reading the prequel I was so lost with theories about Winter and Lia, trust me, you don’t know what is about to hit you in this story so be ready.
I enjoyed Winter so much! She had a backbone and wouldn’t go without a fight. She is still a mystery though. We've gotten slight parts of her past that give you the clear message that she didn’t have it easy but it wasn’t shown in detail so we have to wait a little more to know her completely. To know what she remembers is true or if her mind playing her tricks.
Adrian, though. Let me warn you that you may not be ready for this fine man. I wasn’t. I can’t decide which Rina’s villains I want them to kidnap me but right now, Adrian is leading the list, lol. What I really love about him was his devotion to his wife and he will do anything to bring her out. His past, how he met Lia, and other certain thing is still a mystery that I can’t wait to read!
We also get glimpses of Damien, Kirill, and the rest of Bratva’s members. I really love Damien and Kirill and can’t wait to have their books! They are like those annoying brothers that you can’t help but laugh at their bitching and bantering. We also got introduced to new characters - Kolya and Yan, Adrian's bodyguards that seem to make you wonder stuff haha I really don't want to start spoiling the story because I did avoid like crazy spoilers and the ride was amazing.
The level of hotness in this book was high, af. I actually had to pause at certain scenes because it was hot to handle. I think my favourite one was the ice scene ;)
And of course, the book ends in a huge cliffhanger with a huge revelation. Be prepared!...more
