I would have read it straight through if I didn't have to sleep! Amazing characters, perfect story and just enough suspense to keep you reading. One of my favorite things about this author's stories; her characters are beaten up by life and pull themselves, kicking and clawing out of their hell. It's always relatable and inspiring....more
I can't say enough about Genevieve Jack's creative gift as a writer. Her books are just enjoyable. Highland dragon was a little darker than her other stories but that was fitting for the characters story line. Avery's life has always been on hold, (I actually felt sorry for her in past books) she's always taking care of everyone else but never herself. She's a lost soul of sorts. And a very relatable character if you have ever felt lost. Then there's Xavier....any woman who's ever had a fantasy about a highland warrior well this is him (and he's a dragon ta boot). This is a wonderful book full of suspense, love, self discovery, fairies, witches and dragons. It's hard to put down and I can't wait for the next book!!!

One of the reasons I read fantasy is to escape. A great book can change your perspective on so many levels, especially if the story sweeps you away. TOne of the reasons I read fantasy is to escape. A great book can change your perspective on so many levels, especially if the story sweeps you away. This book is just a wonderful read. It is romance, love, fear and longing. There are evil queens and dashing dragons. Wondrous world's of fairies, oracles and brilliant witches. Add to that Jack's fun, witty writing style and you end up with a really enjoyable story. For the most part this takes place in England. Nathaniel's an English gentleman, occult shop owner and our dragon. Clarissa is the American pop star, a witch cursed without her magic. There's no one she can trust, so Clarissa must return to the dragon who's love she once spurned. Here begins the 5th book of The treasure of Paragon series. Ideally reading the series from the beginning would be the most gratifying but you could read this as a stand alone. I have read the whole series so far and personally think knowing all the characters adds a flavor you would loose otherwise.
I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion. My thoughts are my own and not influenced by any thing else.

I truly enjoyed this story. Dark, mythical and stormy. It is well written, well spun and with the perfect touch of horror.
Emotionally abandoned by everyone who should cherish her, Curiosity is alone. With the exception of the Gardner, no one really talks to this poor girl. When she has the chance to steal a small faerie doll, she does. After all every lonely child needs a friend. This small act unleashes the darkest of Faeries and seals the fate of many people.
Filled with pure creepiness, clever plot twists. The perfect ending wraps the whole thing up and the authors talent shines. I love who the narrator ends up being.
I'm sure at some point I will read this book again, it was that great and I have a feeling there's something else I will catch in a second read. Truly a talented author.
