Definitely in the top three list of my all-time favourites.
Richard Feynman will always be right there near the top of my all-time heroes, and reading this book cemented my respect for this legend.
"Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman" is a funny, inspiring and engaging work of literature. Feynman's personality comes through so strongly that you rage against stupid bureaucrats, and you see clearly what it means to be an original thinker uninhibited by orthodoxy.
This book inspires you to be smarter, to be more original, and to be more intellectually honest.

The stories inside will break your heart as to the needless pain and suffering some women have to endure everyday. Obviously my knowledge was clouded as to the extent of the work done by the Gates in making planet earth a little bit more comfortable for the marginalised and the unlucky. I have always known that I need to update my software - this is with reference to how a husband and a wife can share responsibilities in a family setup. I was not entirely clear what this entailed, and I'm still forming my mental model with regards to this, but Melinda's work offers a useful framework of how to go about it....more

It's the story of how the original Macintosh was designed by a small group of brilliant engineers lead by the legendary Steve jobs. Burrell smith, Bill Atkinson, Andy Hertzfeld and Steve Capps especially stood out for their engineering wizardry and creativity.
Some favorite quotes and excerpts:
"The best way to predict the future is to invent it" - Alan Kay
Steve started critiquing the layout on a purely esthetic basis. “That part’s really pretty,” he proclaimed. “But look at the memory chips. That’s ugly. The lines are too close together.”
George Crow, our recently hired analog engineer, interrupted Steve. “Who cares what the PC board looks like? The only thing that’s important is how well it works. Nobody is going to see the PC board.”
Steve responded strongly. “I’m gonna see it! I want it to be as beautiful as possible, even if it’s inside the box. A great carpenter isn’t going to use lousy wood for the back of a cabinet, even though nobody’s going to see it.”
“Well, Steve, I think there’s more than one way of looking at it. I think it’s more like we both had this rich neighbor named Xerox and I broke into his house to steal the TV set only to find that you had already stolen it.” - Bill Gates to Steve Jobs
Highly recommended to young engineers and computer scientists at the start of their carriers....more
