this was an average read for me, celine was your typical heroine and the plot was very basic. bastien was... okay, to me he seems like a wat2.5 stars.
this was an average read for me, celine was your typical heroine and the plot was very basic. bastien was... okay, to me he seems like a watered down version of kaz brekker. michael annoyed me, especially in the last few pages as it was so unnecessary. the whole book would have been 10x better if celine had feelings for odette, which i really thought was the case for the first 200+ pages since they have the best chemistry in the novel.
the ending though, what was that? the shocking revelation of the killer, even though i did not guess his identity, was weird and could have been much better. also, i don’t know if i’m just slow but i did not catch what kind of creatures the members of the cour des lions are? it just confused me.
overall though, this book is not that bad. it’s entertaining and was a breeze to get through, at least for me. but if you’re looking for the next great “ya vampire” novel, it’s probably best to skip this one...more
this book is very cute & i adored the characters. it took a dark turn near the end which, while unexpected, enhanced the story so that it’s more than this book is very cute & i adored the characters. it took a dark turn near the end which, while unexpected, enhanced the story so that it’s more than your typical “teenage witch” novel. i loved the diversity included, especially with hannah as she is a lesbian and explained some of the struggles that she goes through with other people & even herself.
overall, 4 stars (even though it should probably be 3.5) because of the diversity & unique twists that make up this story....more
