this book made me realize that taylor jenkins reid is one of the strongest and most talented authors out there right now. evelyn is such a complex character as you can see her flaws but you still want to root for her. i love the old hollywood aesthetic and her bisexuality being a big part in the story. i never felt very connected to monique until later in the story and BOY did that ending shock me!
i'm quite confident that this is a book most people will enjoy, or at least appreciate, because of the writing, setting, and characters. it's only been a year since i last read it - but i think it's past time for a reread.

this is my second time reading circe and i enjoyed it just as much as the first. i love madeline miller’s books, but i’ve always preferred circe just a little bit more than the song of achilles. i think this is because i really enjoy circe as a character and getting to see her mature and experience different things throughout the novel.
i love circe, both in this book and in the original myths, because of her complexity. there’s so much more to her than just being a powerful sorceress and i really enjoyed how madeline miller took her from being the villain of the story to someone who made hard choices because she was forced to. this book showcases her flaws and weaknesses, but also her compassion, strength, and intelligence.
madeline miller’s writing is beautiful and the way she describes characters and events is stunning. i love her descriptions and how she depicts well-known points in circe’s life, such as her meeting with odysseus, because she adds an extra layer to the story that makes it so much better. one other thing i also enjoy is that, since there’s so many people in circe’s story, it serves as a great refresher for greek mythology as well.
i HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone, not just fans of greek mythology, because of the important themes, stunning prose, and unforgettable characters. 5/5 stars ⭐️...more
