1st Read January 2019: Hi, yes, this is my new favourite book. It is my precious baby and I will protect it till the day I die. This book hit me in the deepest parts of my heart. Words can’t even EXPRESS how much I love this book. It was thrilling, it was suspenseful, it was heart-warming yet DEFINITELY heart-breaking. The messages in this book are amazing, the writing was captivating and the addition of the podcast was AMAZING. I couldn’t help but INSTANTLY fall in love with Sadie. She is so, so, SO strong, independent, raw, yet so flawed and naive, and so many other adjectives, and I was rooting for her from start to finish. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook because it just makes the whole experience SO MUCH BETTER, with a full cast, and an actual podcast element. The podcast and Sadie’s POV wove together perfectly, and each chapter I was left on the edge of my seat. The ending crushed me, but I think it was the ending this book needed. I sobbed for the whole last half of the last chapter, up until the last line (which is the BEST LAST SENTENCE in a book EVER). When I heard Sadie’s voice actress in the credits, it just made me sob even more (I know she’s not ACTUALLY Sadie, but still. Its still Sadie’s voice). This book was so incredible, this review is a mess and this book definitely deserves all the hype AND MORE....more

This is the beginning of my read of the first 3 books before continuing/finishing the series FINALLY, and I loved it! I first read this as a tween, around Harry’s age, and OMG THE NOSTALGIA WAS REAL! Even IF I haven’t finished the series, I love this book and this series and these characters and this world SO SO MUCH! 💕💕 Honestly this book doesn’t even NEED a review cause we all know its incredible...more

All the themes and symbols, it was so masterfully written and so thrilling! I can’t WAIT to finally read the rest of the series! I was required to read this book for school in Year 9, and at first I didn’t want to. I had watched the movie, and I didn’t want all the analysing to ruin the book for me, but in fact it made me love it ever more and made me realise just how amazing this book is. The world building is incredible and how it relates to our own society. The action kept me on the edge of my seat as Katniss struggled her way to survive. I haven’t read the others in the book but I really need to, and I’ll probably re-read this before hand just to remind myself how good this book is....more
Re-read (March 2019): listened to this through audio book for a long overdue re-read and WOW, this will forever be my favourite play/movie. The audio Re-read (March 2019): listened to this through audio book for a long overdue re-read and WOW, this will forever be my favourite play/movie. The audio book was so authentic and amazing! I have to admit it can be a bit hard to tell which Juror is who, but this play is so powerful that I would recommend it to ANYONE!!
Back in year 9 for my Civics class we had to study the film and I fell in love with it, so when we had to study the play for my English class, I enthusiastically read it and fell in love with even more and its now one of by favourite books.
The play follows a heated jury that must decide on a unanimous verdict to whether a young boy is guilty or innocent of murder based on reasonable doubt, and if found guilty, sentence him to death.
I love crime books and studying cases, so this is right up my ally, but not only that but its such a powerful book. Its realistic yet simple setting emphasises its diverse characters, its meaning of not letting your personal prejudices effect the way you see things, or in this case (pun unintended), the case. The use of persuasion in the discussion between the jurors is incredible and I just can’t speak more highly of this book, and think everyone should read it at least once because I absolutely adore it....more
