Often I would stop to double-check facts on the internet before moving on to the next page. This isn't mindless entertainment. Rather it is crammed with interesting trivia. And it is intricately woven with loads of details cleverly added into the story.
However I have to say that some of the historical details in this book are wrong or misleading - for example the Gospel of Philip was written a long long time (150 years or thereabouts) after the Gospels of Mark, Luke & Matthew. No serious scholar would consider it a more reliable record of Jesus's life, unlike Dan Brown.
But I found this book in the fiction section, not the factual one. And it's enjoyable fiction too....more
