This was such a fun and light-hearted read, it was exactly what I needed from as a break from work!
Jonas and Cynthia are the first couple from the Storydale series where it is centered around Disney princesses. Cynthia was inspired by Cinderella.
I liked that this book included a plus sized woman as the FMC with real struggles. As a curvy woman myself I have to say the inclusivity in the real world is not as much. But Jonas appreciated her, very well indeed I should say and that was nice to read about.
Jonas had his own PTSD to deal with from an incident in his life and add on the stress of being a mayor, he was exploding at Cynthia. I was rolling my eyes at him at some points in the book because he just needed to stop, pause and listen but he wasn’t capable of it in those moments. But the growth in him was great because of Cynthia’s determination to not give up on them.
I did think the context behind her being “Cinderella” was revealed a lot less than it should have been and that too towards the end of the book. More context on the princess that was inspired would have made the book connected a lot more. The side plotline was also unnecessary if it was going to end the way it did.
Overall, a good distraction! This isn’t a dark romance so it can be read quickly....more

Tropes: kidnapping, stalking, reverse harem
This is my first Bonnie and Clyde retelling book and it is also a first from this author.
I liked the aspect of RH in this that made the story interesting to read. The whole robbers plotline was also exciting to read. The character development seemed a little stagnant for the characters but otherwise I liked the pace of the plot because it was a quick read.
I gave this three stars because of the unclear writing. The third person POV made the story feel less relatable. I also felt that even though there was reverse harem it was not executed properly plot wise. There was just something missing that didn’t make me go ‘wow’. ...more

Give me all the Peter Pan retellings!
This story could also be a little confusing to people who have not read Peter Pan before. The idea of Neverland, the concept of the lost boys and time would be all new to someone who hasn’t read it before. As such, I would always recommend readers to read the original tale before embarking on retellings.
This book did build up the plot well, I liked the twist to it because it was exciting to read. And the cliff-hanger, I did not expect it so I’ll need to continue the next book.
The reason why I’m giving it 3.5 stars is because of Peter’s character development. I don’t really understand some of his actions and I couldn’t relate to it so it felt like there were some aspects that were not clear. I liked Wendy’s character though I did think she was too nice towards her sister.
Still a retelling that everyone who loves Peter Pan should read!...more
Somnophilia of sleep (a paraphilia in which an individual becomes sexually aroused by someone who is unconscious, as defined in this book) is a theme Somnophilia of sleep (a paraphilia in which an individual becomes sexually aroused by someone who is unconscious, as defined in this book) is a theme that is becoming more prominent in books. And I of course was interested in this since the title itself had some promise of it. Or so I thought.
⚠️: kidnapping, stalking, one scene of chase play, breath play
The blurb was interesting - a retelling of Sleeping Beauty in a twisted way with the man having stalker-ish vibes, like doesn't it call out to you? But the book did more telling than showing, unfortunately.
I liked that both Vera and Logan were into the same fantasies because similarities would help them to build their relationship faster. They met each other on a website for people with different kinks/fantasies and connected, I liked the initial banter between them. But all of this was short lived.
It was a lot of "I wish" instead of "I'll do it". By the time some action actually showed up it was half way through the book, which was a little too late to make up for the low rating. I also felt like there was discrepancies in the plot because some of the events were told as something in a previous chapter and then told as another in the next chapter, I was confused on what am I supposed to follow. In comparison to Vera, Logan seemed a little immature to me (view spoiler)[because it was the same theme of "I'm broken, I'm not good for you" for 80% of the book. Even when Vera was ready to move forward with Logan, he always took his space and left her alone especially when communication was needed. I felt like he was slowing down the pace of their relationship development because he was really hesitant to move forward. Vera definitely wore the pants in their relationship (hide spoiler)]...more

Paranormal is not my go to genre but seeing that this was a RH, I immediately signed up for this (RH has been my go-to trope lately).
This book is written in the third person POV but it was easy to read. It is also a retelling of Alice in Wonderland.
The life of Alice was indeed a rough journey from a young age to when she knew it would all get worse. The characters that we commonly know are in this book and they each have a role in Alice’s world. I liked that they each had development - where they had their own connections with her. It didn’t feel like any part of the harem was only focused on Alice and one of the four men.
I felt that the flow between some parts of the book was not as smooth but this may be because I took breaks in-between reading.
Otherwise, this book was a good start to the series. ...more

What was that cliffhanger? I did not expect that at all, I literally gasped.
I am not a fantasy reader, it is not my go to genre but this series is so addictive that I literally read two books in a day, consecutively.
One thing I've said throughout the series so far: the short chapters are what makes you want to keep reading the book. I had to take a mini-break in between but if not I'm sure I would have read it in one sitting as I did for the previous book. The short chapters is especially good for people who don't have long attention spans like me, I don't need to read 20 pages of a chapter to know what happens next.
This book had an excellent balance of plot development and smut, I wouldn't say either one aspect was overpowering. Everything felt right and it was a smooth reading - of course plot twists were anticipated and some parts of the plot was slightly predictable (which is why the rating) but otherwise the writing did make me want to continue reading more. The way Nikki writes is short, sweet and to the point so you really don't feel like you're wasting your time reading.
I can finally admit that this book was what I needed to feel that Winnie belonged with men. In the previous books I was not warmed up to her but this book showed just how important her presence was in Neverland. I loved all the POVs that we got, especially from the main four (Peter Pan, Vane, Kas and Bash) and the other supporting characters that had appearances in book 2 because it all explained the plot more. I would say all the main characters have had development, although in various levels but they've definitely grown over the series.
I literally can't wait for the next book because that cliffhanger - I'm still not over it. I have so many questions!
I will take and take because there will always be power in it

This book continued from the previous cliffhanger and I would say I really liked the flow of this book. The short chapters made it so much easier to read through quickly, I read through the book in one sitting. Another good aspect of this book was the multiple POVs - I usually get annoyed when I know the thoughts of every other character but in this book it was important (especially of the boys) and it also helped me since I am relatively new to fantasy.
There was definitely more plot in this one, more explanations about the characters and it helped me get a better understanding of the actions behind them. I still am not team Winnie but I think I can accept her place in Neverland now. Her chemistry with the guys increased in this book and there was also communication between them which was good (though I would have liked a little more conversation than sex). There were also introductions to new characters which I'm sure I'll read more in the next book and I'm very curious about how it will turn out. Some characters were also not who I thought they were and these mini plot twists added onto the overall rating. Since the book was so easy to read through and imagine when I'm not someone who reads fantasy usually, I gave this 4 stars.
My two little disappointments: there was too much smut in this book. I was reading it while frowning since I was so engrossed and I hoped to get more plot but when I read the start of the smut scene it made me a little annoyed because those parts would have been the best parts to get more revelations. The character development was also not that great - the men started acknowledging Winnie's presence in their lives and in Neverland but individually I truly only saw development in Vane.
Also yes, I took a dive back into childhood and watched Peter Pan again, I think I like this dark retelling more. Onto the next book, I'm very curious about the cliffhanger!
After dnf-ing the second book I didn't have much expectations for this book going in and that was a good decision.

This book's fmc Eveline reminded me of Lana Myers , badass-woman-who-doesn't-hesitate-to-ask-what-she-wants and in a good way. I liked that she didn't censor her words and did what she wanted to. She oozed of power and female villains are so hard to find in books.
And Nick was the mmc who bowed down to Eveline not because he should but wanted to. Though he didn't really keep his end of the stick but he tried. I also liked that he was starting to accept his emotions more as time went by.
What I didn't couldn't connect with though was their dynamic as a couple. It felt more insta lust and not as genuine as they claim to be. It could have also been because of the entire plot line but I felt it could have been less sex more talking (like Eveline herself said).
Though I really liked the "let's talk poetry while having sex" aspect like that's cute and hot at the same time I don't know how do they do it.
Wretched is definitely the best book of the series and the gun play? Shoot me instead ...more

And for fuck’s sake, don’t run. Why? Because I will chase you. And you don’t want to know what happens when I catch you
Retellings have picked up the hype recently and I have also hopped onto that train, trying to find good retellings that I can.
Fantasy is a genre I actively avoid because I can't seem to find it realistic enough to imagine in my head, being a visual reader and all so this book was tough to get into and be interested in. I didn't pick the book up for 2-3 days (also partially because of my uni submissions) but once I got past that slump I finished the rest of the book in 30 minutes.
You might wanna read the summary of Peter Pan to refresh your mind before you read this.

This book was an interesting start to the series, once you get hooked onto it you will possibly read through the book in a sitting. I honestly went in only knowing it was a Peter Pan retelling so the other elements were a surprise to me. I felt that the pace of the book was just nice, short chapters make it easier for readers to get through. This book also had the right amount of smut, a good balance made me not drop the book. It also wasn't dark for me, I thought the violence and gore made sense according to the plot and descriptions of the characters but do read the trigger warnings before proceeding.
The plot could have been more developed, the relationships between the characters seemed a little shallow so I couldn't necessarily connect with them at certain parts of the book. This is mainly why I rated it 3 stars. I should have liked Winnie, she's the FMC after all but I couldn't relate or connect with her which made it a little disappointing. I also don't understand the twins', Vane's or Peter Pan's obsession with Winnie (view spoiler)[and why she's different from the other Darlings (hide spoiler)]. To me it just felt like two different pieces of a puzzle being forced to fit together because there was a clear lack of connection between the characters.
I do hope the next book has more character/plot developments and a little more depth in their connections. ...more

Didn't plan to read this series until a friend recommended it to death. This is supposedly a Peterpan retelling and my first one too so I was pretty excited to start it.
It started off good and it was interesting to see a villain in his element. Though their chemistry seemed a little forced because of Wendy's placement in his life, I liked seeing James as a villain. It is a dark romance, not too dark but dark enough than usual romances.
But the story didn't maintain the appeal because halfway into the book I lost interest. James felt like he wasn't a villain but just a puppy going after Wendy. I felt like Wendy was becoming someone who can be walked over, you'd think someone who was kidnapped and used would feel anger for a long time but she gave in just after three days. The second half was also rushed and everything didn't make sense.
Every time he called her darling it had me holding my laughter I don't know it just sounded so... fake.
I'm still going to continue the series as I heard the other two are better so that's the good news! ...more
