This is a book I had started months ago and set aside after the first few pages. I'm really glad a picked it back up. Casey's gift/curse or as she and her friend, Em, call it, the "gurft" is just that. Casey struggles to find a way to cope with the gurft when she meets the boy of her dreams. The problem is that his number is twenty-one. Can she change it? Should she? As she gets closer to him she does everything she can to save him and shares her wisdom, insights, and lessons she learns along the way through her Blog (which is a really creative way to share what is going on in her head). I really loved how the author included a brief four year fast forward to how Casey is doing in the near future. If you like this book, I would also suggest "When" by Victoria Laurie. ...more

What a playful, funny and frisky rework of the original Nobody Loves a Bigfoot Like a Bigfoot Babe. Good job Simon Okill! This book is more young adult friendly but keeps the humor and light-hearted feel with characters that grab your attention with big hairy paws and won't let go. It takes real talent and hard work to rework an existing story by changing the focus and perspective. A virtual high five for Simon!

I could visualize the small town where it all takes place and I could feel the frustration and pain of the local sheriff as she deals with the cockamamie citizenry. To solve the latest Bigfoot abduction, the sheriff must question the man who dresses up as a Bigfoot and the man who swears he was abducted by aliens along with the rest of the township. Owen is that kind of guy. He does what he has to do because he knows it's the right thing to do. He is one to stand up for the innocent and weak. He puts his whole heart into each situation he finds himself thrust into. He would sacrifice himself before he'd let harm come to his friends or family. Some would call him a superhero but Owen would say, "I'm just an ordinary guy."
