Lamar Giles has done it again!
This is the third book that I have read by him and just they keep getting better. Now this story did have a slow start, but once it picked up I couldn’t read the pages fast enough. One scene had me near tears towards the end of the book. A parents’ love is something else and that’s all I will say to avoid spoilers. The horror parts of the book were on point and that ending!!!! ...more

First time reading this author and it wasn't a bad read. The beginning of the story had me hooked, bu the middle dragged and dragged and I found myself losing interest. The last half of the book really came together and overall I was satisfied how it ended. This would make a great read during spooky season especially if you're a fan of the 90's and the Craft!...more

Sleep Like Death might be my new favorite after Cinderella is Dead. The story sucked me in from the very beginning, had me all in my feels and I couldn’t read fast enough to see how it would all play out. I’ve been reading Kalynn Bayron since her debut and she has NOT missed! If you are a fan of fairytale novels definitely check this book out.

I was expecting this story to be spooky and creepy, but that was so not the case. This book dealt with family traumas, coming of age and the spirits played a minor part in the story. As far as the writing goes I did enjoy it and found the pacing to be good as well.

First off this cover is everything and the reason why I wanted to read the book. Then the story is centered around a Black ballerina, Laure and this was a solid debut by Jamison Shea. I did have issues with the pacing at times, but overall I enjoyed the story. I look forward to the next book in the series as well. I did alternate this book with the audiobook and the narrator did such a good job. The creatures voice was scary and gave me chills while I listed. The narrator did a great job bringing this story to life and I hope they narrating the next book in the series as well.

As much as I wanted to love this book it didn’t work out in my favor at all. I found the story to be slow and the ending wasn’t fulfilling. I paired this story with the audio and that’s pretty much the only reason I was able to complete this book. I have heard great things about Burn Down, Rise Up also by this author and I do want to check it out as well. ...more

I loved the full cast of narrators for this audiobook. I did enjoy the story, but the pacing was an issue for me. The slow parts were SO slow and then when we got to the action it was over so fast. Based off the way the book ended I'm guessing there will be another book to address the unresolved issues. If there is I wouldn't be against listening to the next book in the series providing the pacing is better.

This book is a gothic, creepy and very atmospheric slow burn that is great perfect for spooky season. I would have liked if Henry and Gabriel’s relationship was showed to me instead of being told to me. It was hard to feel the connection between the two when it felt like the relationship wasn’t fully developed. Despite that minor issue this was a good story and the ending was fast paced and held my attention. The narrator did a great job as well. ...more

I really liked Charity, but I did find myself yelling at her to forget about closing down the camp and just leave!!!!! Mr. Lamont will be just fine and if not he can deal. My theory about one of the characters was correct, then they had to go and mess it up!!! I was rooting for you!!! Ugh. The ending definitely took me by surprise and I loved how the book ended in true horror movie fashion!!! This would be a great read for spooky season!! ...more
