I have seen some of his movies adaptations and I remember that I thought The Witches was very scary. I decided to read this one on my ereader (I think it is embarassing to read a childrens book in public when they can see his covers.. I don't know why haha but I think I might buy the boxset, if I have the money because it's quite expensive.) and I loved it! I remember a few things, but not everything. This is a great story with a really good moral (If someone really loves you, it doesn't matter what you look like) but the book wasn't that scary.
After I finished the book (yesterday morning) I rewatched the movie later that day (so yesterday) and it was still scary! The Witches terrify me which is weird because usually I'm not scared of horror.
I gave the book and the movie both 5 stars (of course) and I highly recommend this one to everybody. ...more

As a child I never read Peter Pan, but I grew up with the movie. It was so long ago so I decided to re-watch the movie first. It was so beautiful! I've watched the 2003 Disney version and I think that's one of my favourites. This version is so good! When I think about Peter Pan, I think about an animated movie and this version has that....more

I didn't like Pride and Prejudice because of the writing style and the storyline was so difficult to understand (and predictable) but this one is so differently! Because of my opinion of Pride and Prejudice I decided to watch a movie or series adaption first and then read the book. I chose the BBC 2009 mini-series and those actors are absolutely amazing! I watched an episode and then I read the chapters that goes along with it. Because of those amazing actors I remembered everything that happend, so it was easier and much more fun to read the book! I recommend to this as well (of you had troubles with Pride and Prejudice). Here's a trailer if you're interested in that series: ...more

In If I Stay you see the past of Mia and the other chapter of her present life, so with flashbacks and those were a little bit boring. But with if I stay you can just see the present with some thoughts of the past which was perfectly. In Where She Went something else was really interesting and it was good that thing was mentioned in the book: the hope of love. Adam did not give up on being happy and finding love and that's what's so important these days. Many teenagers think it's hard to find a perfect guy or a perfect girl so they lost hope but this book shows that it really exist. I also loved the music think in this duology and the fact that these two kids were underdogs in high school but are big musicans later, at least with Adam (I'm not going to spoil anything haha)....more

This story is rThis book started very slowly and I couldn't get in to the story. But that was only like 60 pages or so and then I started to like it! This story is really good. John Green explains the title very often and the thing I noticed and liked was that he mentioned that a city always looks better from above but when you get a look closely it looks fake. Fake houses, fake people etc. That's just so true! It's also about growing up and let your childhood go. This story takes place in the senior year and that's one of the things I really like. Paper Towns is again a contemporary story but with a twist. It gets really mystery and the ending was very romantic. This story is different than the other stories John Green has written, but definitely a very good one!...more

First I saw a lot of differences: in the movie Savannah's hair was blond, in the book she had brown hair, John didn't have tattoos in the movie, in the book he does. The main difference that bothered me was the fact that Alan, Tim's son in the movie, was not Tim's son in the book but his brother. This is a contemporary novel, so it's so realistic that they could've kept these details in the movie. If I could choose the actors in the movie, I would've changed them, especially Amanda Seyfreid. I really like her as a person, but I when I read the book I didn't see Amanda as Savannah.
But after all I really enjoyed the story. This is a cute and romantic book that you can read after you've read a series. I also loved the fact that Savannah helped John with his father and that they got along with each other after all. I gave this book 5 stars because it will always be with me....more

I don't know why it took me so long but I don't like to read a book or watch a movie when it's that hyped up. When the movie came out John Green was EVERYWHERE. Like, literally everywhere. He even had interviews with YouTubers who normally don't read a book. So I was like: you'll only like that book if you don't read that much.
But I went to the theatre last month to see the movie and it was amazing. I NEVER cry when I'm reading a book or watching a movie, but this one did! I didn't cry when I was reading the book though, because I already know the story so I was prepared.
But I don't like the book as much as I like the movie. In the movie the book comes more alive. I like the fact that Amsterdam was a huge part in this story. Dutch is my native language, so I can pronounce all the names perfectly als I also went to Amsterdam a few years ago (I didn't go to the Anna Frank museum because the waiting line was too long, but I really wanted to go!). ...more
