It seems like this book is trying for more of the horror genre, but it confuses the theme of the series by starting off with a villain who's Other. Eventually we get some greedy humans into the story and clarify the role of Crowbones, but the result is a bit of a mishmash. It feels like there was pressure to produce a sequel, but it didn't come naturally. The book feels it's way to a conclusion, rather than flowing seamlessly from scene to scene. ...more
