If you're on the lookout for a captivating historical fiction novel that seamlessly blends drama, intrigue, and romance, look no further than "Feuding Hearts." Set against the backdrop of a richly woven history, this book tells the story of two feuding families whose long-standing rivalry and hidden secrets make for an engaging read that keeps you on your toes.
From the very first page, Elsie Sinclair pulls you into a world filled with tension and strife. The essence of feuding families is what sets the stage for this gripping narrative. We meet our two protagonists: Miss Catherine de Grey, a spirited young woman determined to rise above her family's legacy, and Lord Robert Cooke, a brooding yet charming man caught between loyalty to his family and his growing feelings for Catherine.
What I found most compelling about "Feuding Hearts" is the way the author crafts their characters. They're not just simply good or bad; they are layered individuals with their desires and struggles. Catherine refuses to let the weight of her family's past define her future. Meanwhile, Robert grapples with his own loyalty issues, torn between his deep-seated family obligations and his secret aspirations for a different life. The chemistry between these two is electric, and it keeps you rooting for their love story despite the many obstacles that come their way.
One of the novel's highlights is the slow unravelling of hidden secrets that lie at the heart of the feud. As the characters dig deeper, they uncover truths that not only reshape their understanding of each other but also challenge the very foundation of their families' animosity. The author does an exquisite job of crafting twists and turns that are both surprising and believable, making you question who the real enemies are and what forgiveness truly looks like. "We cannot change the past, only live with its consequences".
Yet, "Feuding Hearts" isn’t all about drama and secrets; it has a delightful undercurrent of hope and healing. The book finds its way to a happily ever after, but it doesn’t come easy. The conclusion deftly balances the intensity of the story's struggles with heartwarming moments that will leave you sighing dreamily as you close the book. It's a beautiful reminder that love can transcend even the most bitter rivalries, as long as you're willing to confront the shadows of the past.
In summary, "Feuding Hearts" is a delightful blend of historical intrigue, complex characters, and a love story that champions resilience and forgiveness. If you enjoy tales of family drama, hidden secrets, and finding love against all odds, this book is one you shouldn’t miss. Grab a cosy blanket, a cup of tea, and dive into the world of Catherine and Robert—trust me, you’ll be cheering for them from the very first page! ...more

"A Not So Merry Ex-Mas" is a sweet romance by Abby Greyson. It's a fairly short read that I devoured in one sitting. The book begins with Noelle excited to spend Christmas at a cabin with her best friend Mel and Mel's husband, Mike. Upon reaching her destination, she is surprised to find someone else already at the cabin - Cole Noelle's ex, Cole, is a stunningly handsome man. Unfortunately, she hasn't seen him in years due to a falling out between them. After their disagreement, Noelle married Dean, definitely not her best move, and no longer spoke to Cole. Now divorced, will Noelle be able to let her guard down and allow Cole back into her life? Will Cole be patient enough to let Noelle make the first move? Only time will tell. And what better way to find out than being forced to spend time together due to a snowstorm?
The book "A Not So Merry Ex-Mas" is a captivating romantic read that held my attention from the beginning. I was immediately drawn into the intricacies of the characters' relationship and history. It was evident that something tragic had caused their separation, as indicated by the unspoken words between them. I found myself rooting for them, hoping they would overcome their misunderstandings and recognize the significance of their past love. I was not let down. The point of view switches between Noelle and Cole in each chapter, with a clear indication of the focused character at the start of the chapter. Certain passages also describe past events between them. However, this does not interfere with the reading enjoyment or cause any complications in understanding who is speaking.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and Cole is now my new book boyfriend. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to others who want a sweet romance with a happy ending....more

If you're a fan of Jane Austen and all things Regency-era, you've probably dreamed of the charm and wit that her characters bring to life. Now, imagine throwing a little Halloween thrill into that classic mix! That’s exactly what “Bewitched at Pemberley” does, and the audiobook version makes it all the more captivating.
From the moment I hit play, I was whisked away into the enchanting world where Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy live – but with a twist. The story blends the beloved characters from “Pride and Prejudice” with a touch of the supernatural, creating a delightful romp through a whimsical narrative. The premise revolves around the magical mischief that unravels when a mysterious witch arrives at Pemberley. This witch’s presence opens a new chapter filled with charm, romance, and, of course, a sprinkle of chaos.
The audiobook is auto-narrated, with a smooth and engaging voice, which brings this enchanting tale to life. Listening to the narration while reading the book added a layer of immersion that transformed my listening experience into something genuine and delightful.
One of the aspects I enjoyed most about “Bewitched at Pemberley” was its ability to stay true to Austen's essence while exploring new themes. There's humor, societal critique, and heartfelt connection, intertwined with magical elements that keep you guessing. The characters are authentic, and even with the magical backdrop of Halloween at Pemberley, their personalities shine through. The budding relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy feels fresh and relatable, particularly as they navigate the trials and tribulations posed by both societal expectations and newfound magical dilemmas.
The pacing of the story is spot-on as well. The audiobook strikes a perfect balance between wit and suspense, ensuring that you’re engaged from beginning to end. It’s a well-crafted journey that keeps you entertained throughout, making it hard to hit pause!
One noteworthy element is how the author incorporates elements of magic without overshadowing the charm of the original story. The author clearly loves Austen’s work, and this affection shines through in the clever way the magical elements intertwine with the original plotlines. It's like finding a hidden treasure buried within the classic.
If you’re looking for something lighthearted and enjoyable, “Bewitched at Pemberley” is a fantastic pick. Whether you're an Austen aficionado or just someone who enjoys a good story, this book delivers a delightful listening experience. It’s perfect for a long drive or a cosy evening at home when you want to escape into a world of romance and mischief.
In summary, “Bewitched at Pemberley” adds a fresh, magical spin on the classic tale we know and love. With a narrator breathing life into the characters, a plot that satisfies both Austen fans and newcomers alike, and a delightful dash of whimsy, this audiobook is a charming listening experience that I wholeheartedly recommend. So grab your headphones and prepare to be enchanted!...more

If you’re in the mood for a steamy novella Claimed by the Mountain Man by Lizzy West

If you’re in the mood for a steamy novella that hits all the right notes and leaves you with a satisfied grin, look no further than "Claimed by the Mountain Man" by Lizzy West. This book is a perfect mix of passion and rugged charm, all wrapped up in West’s engaging writing style. Let’s dive into what makes this steamy romance a must-read for adult audiences.
First off, let’s talk about the setting. West transports readers to a picturesque backdrop, and in this case, it's the stunning little town of Sweetheart Falls that provides an intimate playground for our characters. The wild, untamed beauty of the mountains isn’t just a backdrop; it plays a significant role in the story, practically breathing life into the characters’ passionate interactions. You can almost feel the chill of the mountain air and hear the rustling of leaves as the sparks fly!
Our protagonists—let’s just say, they’re not your average couple. Callan, the rugged mountain man, with his chiselled physique and dominating vibes, is the kind of hero who makes your heart race. He’s raw, rugged, with that kind of possessive charm that makes you weak in the knees. On the other hand, we have Emily, the waitress, who is inexperienced and submissive. Their chemistry is electric, and the tension builds beautifully throughout the book. When they finally give in to their desires, West delivers some seriously steamy scenes that definitely turn up the heat.
What I love about West’s writing is how she balances the steamy scenes with character development. It’s not just about the attraction; for such a short read, you get to know these characters on a deeper level. Their backstories add layers to their personalities, making their connection feel genuine and heartfelt rather than just a series of lustful encounters. You can’t help but root for them as they navigate their feelings and the challenges they face together, even if it does carry a somewhat stalker vibe.
One thing to note is that while the steamy scenes are explicit, they’re also well-written. The author manages to create an allure without crossing into cringe territory—it's sexy, it’s passionate, and most importantly, it feels honest. If you’re someone who enjoys lustful romance with a side of spice, you’ll find yourself turning the pages a bit faster.
Overall, "Claimed by the Mountain Man" is a quick exhilarating read that combines steamy romance with a touching story of love and perseverance. Lizzy West has created a captivating world that pulls you in from the very first page, and her characters are sure to leave a lasting impression. Whether you’re coming for the mountains, the romance, or the thrill of forbidden encounters, this book has something for everyone. So grab a cosy blanket, pour yourself a glass of wine, and prepare for a wild ride!...more

Enter Evan, the dashing and brooding stranger who, let’s be honest, is as swoon-worthy as they come. After a fateful steamy encounter, the two share an undeniable connection that ignites an adventure, longing, and, oh yes, some seriously steamy moments.
The author paints a vividly lush landscape filled with magical creatures, and ancient prophecies, all mixed in the original telling of Snow White. The writing style is delightfully poetic, perfectly blending lyrical prose with down-to-earth dialogue. Plus Snow and Evan crackle with undeniable chemistry, you can practically feel the heat radiating off the pages. The way Kenzie Skye describes their intimate moments is captivating, transforming simple touches into electrifying encounters. Fairest Rose is a perfect homage to the fairytale roots while keeping things refreshingly modern and spicy.
Aside from the romantic escapades, there’s an engaging plot as Snow discovers she’s the key to thwarting the threat to the kingdom, forcing her to embrace her powers. I understand this is part of the Spicy Romantasy series but I wish there was more of it!
In conclusion, "Fairest Rose" is a delightful fairytale romance that combines magic and sizzling chemistry between the characters. It’s perfect for anyone yearning for a short read and an escape into a world where love conquers all—complete with a dash of steam. But Faelan is no ordinary cat; he's a fae cat, a cat sidhe, who deigns to communicate with Skye whenever it suits him. Originally from Miami and recently divorced, Skye is determined to reincarnate the pub in all its glory as Gran would have wanted if only the renovations would be quicker.
If being pestered by her ex wasn't enough, she discovers a dead body face down on the floor of her pub. To make matters worse, she begins to suffer from recurring bad dreams. When she learns that others in the village are also experiencing similar nightmares, her investigative instincts kick in, and she knows there is more to this situation than meets the eye. Skye begins to ask questions as events become more dire until she has no choice but to face the problems head-on. Can she identify the killer before her time runs out?
Rowan Dillon has done a fantastic job with this book, the second instalment in The Skye O'Shea Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series. I enjoyed the suspense woven into the narrative, and there were a couple of surprising revelations as the story unfolded. I found myself constantly guessing who the main suspects were, and the truth at the end took me by surprise.
The story is filled with scary apparitions, dreams, plot twists, suspicious actions, and communications with a spirit from beyond, which I think will appeal to fans of cosy mysteries and paranormal tales. Even those looking for a great story will find this book impressive. And let's be honest, who can resist such an amazing book cover? Just look at the cute kitty! I loved the Irish theme. The author has included a pronunciation guide at the back of the book which is a great help for those unfamiliar with the language.

"The Librarian’s Deadly Puzzle" is a cozy mystery by Rhea S. Brown. The book follows Lila, a librarian with an interest in detective work. While delivering a book to the local mayor, she happens to be in the right place at the right time. She is advised by his secretary that he will no longer be needing the book as the mayor is dead! The story delves into the mystery as Lila insists that this was definitely not death by natural causes; the mayor was murdered! Readers gain insight into the investigation as Lila, accompanied by her four-legged friend Whiskers, attempts to solve the crime.
As she digs deeper into the investigation, she encounters new suspects and people of interest, leading to more questions than answers. The unexpected events create a captivating and intriguing storyline for the book. The central mystery revolves around identifying the murderer and uncovering their motives. I enjoyed several aspects of the book. Firstly, the idyllic setting of Willow Creek immediately draws the reader into the plot. Secondly, I appreciated the addition of Whiskers, who is an adorable sleuthing companion.
Unfortunately, despite all the tension and danger in the plot, I could not relate to Lila and her approach. I tried my best to understand her sentiments, but her general manner was unlikeable. She came across as rude and childlike, and I can't see how anyone she spoke to would have responded in a positive manner to her questioning.
The basis of the story is good and holds promise; however, the stilted dialogue and shallow characters fall short. Nevertheless, I understand that this is just my opinion. I rate this book two out of five stars....more

Pennie Pleat unexpectedly finds herself entangled in a mystery. The Serenity Springs Knitting Club, a cozy gathering of elderly women, becomes the backdrop for a shocking discovery when Pennie stumbles upon the lifeless body of Fiona, one of the club members. Despite Fiona's sometimes challenging demeanour, her demise by knitting needles raises alarm. Pennie, accompanied by her four-legged friend Max, takes it upon herself to uncover the truth, providing essential assistance to Jasper, the local detective.
Everyone in the knitting group is a possible suspect, all with plausible motives to kill the difficult woman but surely these gentle ladies aren't capable of such a crime? The closer Pennie gets to the truth, the more dangerous the search becomes. Will she be able to solve the murder before another tragedy occurs?
"Cashmere Death" was a clever and thoroughly enjoyable book set in a small community torn apart by mistrust and hidden secrets. The protagonist, Pennie, is well-developed, and the supporting characters are multi-dimensional, adding depth and entertainment to the storyline. As the plot deepens, there is a hint of a possible romance between Pennie and the diligent detective. I hope that this will blossom in a future story.
I give Cashmere Death a 5 out of 5-star rating. The story is engaging and well-paced, and the characters are likeable. Overall, I liked this book. The plot was interesting, and the characters were believable. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good mystery, especially the cozy mystery kind....more

"When Doves Lament" byWhen Doves Lament (The Love Birds, #3) by Katie Eagan Schenck

"When Doves Lament" by Katie Eagan Schenck is the third book in "The Love Birds" series, and it delves into the events leading up to Lanie and Nate's wedding. Max McAllister, the father of the bride, is finding it difficult to adjust to the upcoming wedding. Although he has recently seen his son get married, he is not prepared for Lanie's walk down the aisle. However, he is determined to make her day special. Unfortunately, his determination to fulfil her every wish leads to him overstepping boundaries and being seen as meddling. This strains his relationship with his daughter, and it raises the question of whether his interference will permanently damage their relationship.
Carissa, the wedding planner, and Nate, the groom, try to manage both Max and Lanie. Adding to the complexity, Carissa and Max have a strained relationship. Having previously organized Max's son's wedding, Max and Carissa think they know what to expect from each other this time. However, when they realize their feelings for each other are growing, they are forced to reassess their relationship.
The dynamics between the characters were my favourite part of this book. Carissa is still struggling with the emotions she feels from the death of her first husband and finds it hard to imagine herself in a relationship with someone else, but desires companionship. Max does not have the most stable relationships with his family. Having divorced when his children were growing up, and then following the death of his ex-wife, he lost touch with the sentiments he should have shared with them, especially his daughter. The different loyalties add stress to Max and Lanie's relationship, combined with the added stress of family issues arising over wedding planning, which keeps the tension building throughout the book.
I did feel sorry for Max. I understand that it was up to Lanie and Nate to decide how they wanted their wedding, but at the end of the day, Max only wanted the best for them. I feel like Lanie blamed him for the breakup of her parents' marriage, and as her mother had died, her father received the blame. Max was well aware of the mistakes he made during his marriage and raising his children, and this was his way of making things up to Lanie. His heart was definitely in the right place, and I'm sure things could have been handled better without the disagreements and name-shaming.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I really liked the well-developed characters and the engaging plot. Although it can be enjoyed on its own, I recommend reading the previous books in the series for a more comprehensive experience....more

Breaking Fate continues the story from the first book, Taking Medusa, and it's just as good! The gripping narrative combines deep emotional moments with drama and suspense. The book weaves a provocative and emotionally captivating story of Medusa as she desperately tries to grasp who she is behind the control and interference of other gods. The book ends with high stakes and an exciting cliffhanger as Medusa and Hades battle criticisms and unforeseen circumstances to keep their innovative projects alive amid threats and manipulation.
Can Medusa trust Hades? He has always been there for her, helping her through difficult times. He shows unwavering devotion by consistently saving her, proving himself to be a remarkable and worthy character. He combines romanticism with practical support and encourages her throughout her journey of self-discovery. However, the Gods are known for their unpredictable nature, expecting a deed for a deed and a debt to be paid. Is Hades truly who he seems to be? Or is Medusa destined to become the mate of his brother, Poseidon? A passionate love affair ensues, forming a love triangle between brothers. But who will ultimately pay the price?
The author portrays the complex relationships between the Gods, depicting their desires and enduring influence on humanity. The natural and genuine dialogue between the characters helps readers immerse themselves in the story without being overwhelmed by the simultaneous intricacies of the various schemes. I love this story. It's the first book I've read that offers a detailed description of the Gods in a way I've never thought of before. Medusa shows events from her perspective, which is not all negative doom and gloom. She is portrayed as a deeply caring Goddess, suffering from the pain and tragedy of others, rather than the vindictive killer usually associated with her name.
I loved everything about this book. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars. It's a captivating read as the author weaves in themes of love, ethical issues, and the pursuit of a better future. I highly recommend this book to mythology enthusiasts and readers who appreciate emotionally resonant stories....more

The Pact by Sophia Nye starts with a group of girls discussing their hopes and dreams for the future. From the very beginning, it's clear that they are close and similar yet have their own individuality that sets them apart from one another. Ava wishes that they could stay like this forever, living and making plans together, desperately hoping that nothing would change. So, they made a deal: if they were still single by the age of 30, they would all move back home and be together again. The story moves forward to Ava as an adult, almost 30 years old. Will the girls turn up? Will they keep their pact?
And then there is Ben. Ben the handsome and confident man who knows what he is doing and where his life is heading. Ben, who used to date Jules, one of the girls. The same Ben who also dumped Jules before Prom which made him the Enemy. When his grandmother's home is put on the market, what he thought would be a straightforward sale proves to be a life changer. Little did he think the girls he knew from high school would disrupt his life and turn it on its head. He couldn't resist Ava then and he can't resist her now. If only things weren't so complicated. If only she didn't seem to hate him! What will he do? Is he prepared to ignore any chance he may have with Ava? Find answers to these intriguing questions by reading The Pact.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was so well-written and engaging. I loved everything about it - the characters, the plot, the pacing, the writing style, the mood, and the organization. Sophia Nye paid great attention to small details, which made the story very believable and relatable to me. It reminded me of my high school years with a group of girls. We always thought things would stay the same, but eventually, life took us in different directions. Even though we promised to stay in touch and get together whenever possible, it never seemed to work out that way, and eventually, we drifted apart. Ava clings desperately to her memories of how things used to be, not wanting to accept that people change, but the story shows that change doesn't have to be a bad thing.
I was completely absorbed in the journey of the characters as they tried to find their way. The story had enough depth to keep me interested until the very end, especially with the palpable tension between Ava and Ben. The chapters alternate between Ava and Ben's perspectives, which kept me engaged as I enjoyed getting insight into both characters at the same time.
Both the narration and dialogue worked well to bring the story to a satisfying conclusion. The author vividly painted the scenes while ensuring that the pace of the book steadily increased as the pages turned. The dialogue also brought the characters to life by giving them a voice and personality. "Three pots of tea later, the scones were gone, we'd collapsed onto the living room furniturelike fainting ladies from a Victorian painting," - I really liked this phrase and laughed out loud because I could picture the scene. It reminded me of the movie "Pride and Prejudice" when Mr. Bingley visits Jane at home, accompanied by Mr. Darcy, and the family is sprawled over the chairs, totally unprepared.
This is a romance novel with one adult scene. It is fairly short, so readers who prefer a sweet romance may wish to skip over those few paragraphs. I give The Pact a five out of five stars and recommend it to people who love romances. The conclusion wrapped up the book so well and left a smile on my face.

When Sir Percy's gambling became uncontrollable, he realized he was over his head. He had lost a sum of money to Hugh Wystan, not to mention previous gambling debts, and risked exile or even debtor's prison. Isabella, Hugh's twin sister, devised a plan to impersonate a Spanish noblewoman. She intended to win back the money for her brother and mend the issues between her brother and Sir Percy. Instead, she found herself falling in love with the gentleman. Disregarding his lack of fortune, she desired no one else; she was determined to persuade her brother to overlook the small debt. However, Hugh, being the hotheaded type, challenged Sir Percy to pistols at dawn. Isabella risked losing the love of her life or her brother and could not bear to choose between them. Could she convince her brother once and for all to ignore the misfortune of her soon-to-be betrothed, or would his pride prove too much of a challenge? Find out in "Isabella: A Daring Masquerade" by Allie Star.
The story is set in the age of phaetons, carriages, and curricles. Every detail in the book, from the language used to the characters' costumes, reflects the setting and social class of that era. The theme revolves around the upper class and the romantic affairs of individuals, particularly the complexities of marriage. Isabella understood the challenges of attracting a man from a high social class, especially given her mother's background. She swiftly chose Sir Percy, as grace and beauty held significant importance. Isabella had no real worries, as she had a substantial dowry to offer. Her personality was innocent and maybe a little naive. Sir Percy also had a distinctive personality, often making poor choices and initially seeming oblivious to matters of the heart. He is easily misunderstood and initially has strange ways of showing his affection. Clara, the younger sister of Isabella and Hugh, narrates the story and seems to have more sense than Hugh and Isabella put together at times. I liked how she would include details such as "dear reader," as if she was having a conversation with me alone. It gave me Bridgerton vibes!
One of the most fascinating aspects of this book for me was the controversial and unusual relationship between Isabella's parents. It is mentioned that in some circles, her mother, of Indian origin, was not easily accepted. I would have liked to learn a little more about her and have her included more in the story, but then again, this was Isabella's story after all. Perhaps her mother's story could be explored in another book! The only thing I found lacking at times was the dialogue. When a discussion occurred between any of the characters, it did not seem to flow as easily as I would have liked and felt stilted or slightly forced.
For the reasons mentioned above, I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to lovers of romance fiction, especially historical romance....more

Cade is her unapologetically handsome and brooding captor. Despite knowing she should be terrified and seeking any way out of the foreboding prison she finds herself in, Bonnie finds herself drawn to act on every sinful thought that his presence conjures up.
"Dreams of Roses" is a unique take on the Beauty and the Beast tale and part of the Spicy Romantasy Fairy Tales collection. Right from the start, I was drawn in by the suspense that permeates the story. While the plot follows the original, it introduces passionate and intense moments, creating a captivating picture. Kenzie Skye demonstrates great talent in this genre; however, some scenes contain explicit sexual content and language, making it suitable for mature audiences only.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, as I'm a fan of the author. It's no surprise that the book was able to capture and hold my attention. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to others who enjoy a fantasy tale with a happy ending, and don't mind some rather unconventional (and very hot) romantic scenes....more

Everyone has their secrets. When ageing rocker Chris Swallow is discovered dead in his home, questions that have remained unanswered for years resurface. Primarily, the death of a young girl, Rosie, who left home one day in 1998 to attend a party thrown by his rock group, The Swallows, and then mysteriously disappeared. All eyes were on Chris as she was known to be dating him.
On hearing the news of the rocker's demise, Rosie's sister, Laura, over 20 years later, takes matters into her own hands and begins her investigation of the tragic events that happened to her sister years earlier. On top of the commotion caused by these events, old crimes are dredged up, and along with them, old feelings and heartaches. Can she unearth the truth without attracting the attention of the killer?
Summer of Swallows is a crime, mystery, and thriller by Molly Garcia set in the late '90s. I really enjoyed this book. It's a well-crafted story filled with mystery and intrigue. I liked discovering the relationship between Chris and Rosie, while also being drawn into the gripping mystery of the murders and the motives behind them. This aspect of the story kept me guessing and balanced well with the more emotional side of the deaths. I believe the author did an excellent job of telling these stories side-by-side, shifting between the past and present.
I listened to the audio version narrated by Grant Love. As usual, he enunciated every word and phrase clearly and cleanly. Listen to how he pronounces "rotten rubbish" - sheer perfection! He compellingly tells the story, incorporating the spirit of the text and the author’s intent consistently throughout the narration.
By its genre, this book should appeal to many readers with its secrets, deaths, and unlimited surprises. I give Summer of Swallows a 5 out of 5 stars....more

"A Toxic Murder Medley" is an engaging work of fiction by Nelly Stein. The book follows a group of employees who respond to a murder at the beautiful resort of Port Davis Bay. The story delves into relatable themes such as friendship, revenge, crime, and betrayal, which resonate with readers. Readers gain insight into the roles of Emma and her co-workers and their impact on solving the crime. After the victim is discovered in suspicious circumstances, the friends' lives spiral into a never-ending series of nightmares. The central mystery revolves around identifying the murderer and uncovering their motives.
The book follows a young group as they face various challenges and work together to solve a crime. Each member brings their individual talent to help uncover questionable details about the guests at the resort, all of whom have their own motives for committing the crime. While Detective Beltz sees nothing unusual about the incident, Emma and her companions decide to uncover the truth. As they dig deeper into their investigations, they encounter new suspects and people of interest, leading to more questions than answers. The unexpected events create a captivating and intriguing storyline for the book.
I love several aspects of this book. First, Nelly Stein is a talented storyteller who immediately draws the reader into the storyline from the first page. Second, the author skillfully uses vivid descriptions and imagery to narrate the story, creating a sensation for the reader as if they are witnessing the events firsthand. Third, despite all the tension and danger in the plot, I appreciate how the group approaches the risks they are undertaking enthusiastically. Finally, the book has a simple storyline, which provides readers with a seamless reading experience.
While reading, I found that the multiple points of view, each from a different member of the group, made it difficult for me to connect with any of the characters. When I read, I prefer to have a strong connection with the main characters, to understand their thoughts and motivations. With this book, due to the constant change in perspective with each chapter, I couldn't establish that connection. However, I understand that this is just my opinion.
I rate this book four out of five stars because of the positive aspects previously mentioned. I recommend A Toxic Murder Medley to lovers of cozy mystery novels....more

There's a change in the air in Maple Falls, and Emmy can't pinpoint the exact reason. She notices more couples in her small town and a newfound feeling of romance. Cupid has hit a few targets lately, but Emmy isn't complaining. She doesn't need an excuse to spend more time with the hockey hunk, Dawson Hayes. Convinced that a fall fling is fine, she understands that all she needs to do is keep her feelings under control. When she claims "there is no such thing as the perfect man," she may have set herself up to be proven wrong. Can she put her previous beliefs aside, accept that she could be wrong, and let love in?
"The Friend Face Off" is a delightful romantic comedy novel by Grace Worthington. The story alternates between Dawson's and Emmy's perspectives. Dawson's witty remarks and Emmy's quick comebacks make the read amusing. The supporting characters contribute to the intriguing plot, filled with 'what ifs'. All in all, it's a romance that I thoroughly enjoyed, and Dawson has become my new book boyfriend! His attention to detail and persistence are admirable. Readers will flip through the pages, savouring his words and sigh with contentment at the outcome.
I rate The Friend Face Off five out of five stars. Fans of romance and happily ever after will find this book appealing. ...more

"Pandemonium at the Pet Store" by Tessa Aura is the second book in the Molly Montgomery Cozy Mystery series. The story takes place in the quaint town of Maple Lake, and Molly's B&B, Maplewood Haven. When a new pet store owner named Max arrives in town, his guarded behavior and frequent deliveries to his store stir up gossip among the locals. Molly, along with her friend Lila and furrball, Mitz, becomes intrigued by the activity at the new store. Small-town chatter intensifies when it becomes clear that Max has mysteriously disappeared and reports reveal his involvement with questionable characters. Unable to resist, Molly decides to get involved in the unfolding mystery. Can the tracking trio solve the dilemma of Max's disappearance without drawing unwanted attention?
I loved this book. I couldn’t stop reading from the beginning and became invested in Molly's detective abilities. The author did a great job describing the picturesque settings and the quaint charm of the townsfolk of Maple Lake. Molly is a sweet character, and it's hard not to be entranced by her bubbly sidekick Lila and her cute fluffball of a loyal companion, Mitz. There is a hint of possible romance between Jake and Molly. I was hoping for more, but I can be patient and hope it blossoms in the next book!
"I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. The storyline was great, and it has me wanting to come back and read the previous book in the series. I recommend "Pandemonium at the Pet Store" to all readers who are fans of this genre and to readers who can devour a book in one sitting."...more

Merri Maywether's exceptional writing skills are evident throughout this novel in character development and demographics. All the characters are realistic, and I could easily envision the charming town and the events that unfold.
Initially, I had some doubts about whether I would enjoy the book. I was concerned that Jess would be portrayed as an overly perfect mother who could do no wrong with her children. However, as I continued reading, I understood that Jess had been deeply affected by her overbearing, controlling husband. All she desires is to fit in and create a home for her family, protecting her children from unnecessary heartache. Ivan is truly amazing. He always puts others before himself and knows what they need before they do themselves. I was completely invested in his story and didn't want it to end. The emotions, the love story, and the maze scene were all so captivating. I highly recommend reading the book to understand what I mean! The book's character development, and important message about self-esteem, and enjoyment earned it a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars.
If you enjoy sweet romance novels, I highly recommend this book to you. Even though it's the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I'm now eager to read the first book because I'm captivated by Cottage Cove and its inhabitants....more
