Mid-book review cos I'm struggling to finish this. So far Katy Perry does a good job summing this book up:

Update May 2013: The cover's actually good, though I have to admit, some of the fan made covers were gorgeous. I'm not too sure about the water symbol. I was hoping they had all 5 symbols and had them crashing together to create a new symbol. Y'know new world, new symbol??
Update Apr 2013: Allegiant?? Really? Did they mean Allergen[t]? Y'know, the factionless' quest to rid themselves of fleas permanently. Grab your nets and bugs spray! I can't say that I like being wrong but still looking forward to how things end.

-Option 4: Indulgent (view spoiler)
-Option 5: By popular demand, we have Detergent. After 2 books of nothing but blood, sweat and tears, these people are filthy I tell you! They need all the help they can get to remove all those tough stains. Blood can seriously be a bitch to clean!

This book has ended up on my pile to finish one day and you've managed to make more progress than I have. i just can't bring myself to pick it back up. I get so sick of people celebrating terrible books like they're the best books on earth.( specifically Divergent series and The Fault In Our Stars) they only think that because they haven't read anything better.It's super depressing.

I couldn't finished it either.. I tried really hard, but I can't torture myself over one book too much. I stopped reading it altogether.
Uzma and Angharad: ah I feel you're pain. It's like my third or fourth attempt now and for some strange reason hoovering my house seems more appealing than finishing this. I am determined though that I will finish this....one day! P.s. has anyone seen the Insurgent trailer? I'm still shaking my head! We have flying houses now?!?! I must have dosed of when reading the book then!

Agree with you--struggling to finish this as well. Think it would be better if she'd ended it at the end of Ch. 36 with "I choose him over and over again, and he chooses me." A disappointing end to a really great series.
I also agree, I feel like Ms. Roth should've continued in the series. But i feel like the way she ended the series was sufficient as well.

Emergent is just better than Allegiant. This shouldn't be what the ending is called. But after reading halfway, I honestly think Detergent is what Veronica Roth should have done. It feels so... messy.
