After having watched the anime, I decided to pick this one up to support one of the few mystery LN novels out there. I think this is the kind of book you maybe should avoid a plot synopsis / back of book summary for. I'd recommend skipping the prologue and starting with Chapter 1 as well as the prologue does the whole "in-media-res" thing where they show you a scene that happens later in the narrative and clue you in on the problem of the mystery.

The story reads well, with lots of dramatic twists and turns. The character of Adlet is quick to let you lnow his mood on a situation and the desperate nature of the happenings. As others pointed out, the characters all have recognizable speech patterns or behaviors, so if you want to read this aloud dramatically (or dramatically in your head) go for it. =P

The mystery is well set up and explained. You'll hear thoughts occasionally from the enemy that'll clue you in again to the desperation of the situation they put the heroes in. Overall, I recommend this book to everyone. It's got a good mix of mystery and action. Only drawbacks for me were 1) familiarity with the anime, 2) resolving the whodunit a bit anticlimacticly (the deduction portion is great though), 3) that it ends. xD

The first mystery we get (besides in the media res cold open portion) is "who is the Brave Killer". A fiend, one of the offspring of the Evil God (a mud like killing machine creature) is suspected by "the maiden" and our hero and unofficial tournament champion Adlet (the strongest man in the world)."

Anyways, onward to our Braves working together... To hurt each other? Whelp, this meeting doesn't go as planned."
