Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones is a delightful modern fairytale full of surprises, whimsy, humour, suspense and a HEA.
Sophie Hatter as the oldest of three girls doesn't expect her life to be anything but dull, because in fairy tales it's always the youngest sister that goes on adventures and makes her fortune. But then the wicked Witch of the Waste turns her into an old woman of ninety. Unable to face her family, Sophie seeks out the dubious and disreputable Wizard Howl (said to eat young girls hearts) in his strange floating castle - to see if he can remove the curse. What ensues is an eventful series of adventures in which Sophie discovers her own powers and who she truly loves.

Loved this book & am delighted to find that there are more in the series.
