I really liked the premise of this series. Six Braves called up every 1000 years to fight the Evil god. It may not even be all that original but I tend to enjoy stories like this. So when it ends up that seven people show up I'm thinking I'll be very interested.

Alas, I found myself very easily able to set the book down and do something else. I wasn't hanging by a thread to find out who the traitor was. Perhaps that's because I really didn't care for any of the characters all that much. Maybe that's the point, if they're all unlikable then you have reason to suspect them all? If so, it just didn't work for me. I just found that I really didn't care which one was all that much... or rather I didn't care about ANY of them all that much so whoever it ended up being wasn't going to bother me much. I wasn't going to feel betrayed because someone I had learned to like and trust had broken some unspoken promise to be a hero.

Of course the do figure it out and get that taken care of and the volume ends with an event certainly meant to leave the reader hanging.

Verdict: It's okay. I'm going to read more. I just hope that in the future volumes I find some reason to actually care about or at least empathize with some of the characters. If there are other light novels you interested in -- read those first.
