Renegades (Breaking the Rules, #1)

Despite the title and the super tough guy on the cover (Kane?), this book was the SWEETEST. The definition of hurt/comfort: two people struggling to various degrees with real-life issues, all while easing very slowly into whatever the other person is willing to accept.
Thankfully, although Kane in particular is dealing with the effects of some heavy abuse, it’s mostly offscreen aside from references to mostly verbal abuse. Not a ton of detail.
I always get a little fussy about these magical small towns that are apparently 75% happily partnered gay guys who all know everything about each other’s tortured pasts, but I’m really loving EM Lindsey’s books anyway😆
