It's a shame that the complete poems didn't survive and all we have left are fragments. But even so, we still get glimpses of the brilliance of Sappho and how beautifully she could convey sentiments.
Love shook my senses, like wind crashing on mountain oaks.
And you, Dika, wrap lovely garlands round your hair, weaving together sprigs of dill with delicate hands: the blessed Graces see a girl decked in flowers, but turn away from those who wear no crown.
I say someone in another time will remember us.
The moon and Pleiades have set - half the night is gone
