Okay. I love this series. It's dark AF & I'm V here for it. This one, Deviant King, is the 1st of Aiden & Elsa's trio.

Warning: Nothing makes sense (yet). You don't understand motives or what the f is going on (as is the case in most 1st of a series). When you begin it's like reading about a group of boy bullies who target these two random ass chicks & make their life hell. However, as the details come out everything makes sense (not just rationalization, which I truly despise).

Now, the MC's are Elsa and Aiden, although the series itself centers on The Four Horseman, Aiden, Cole, Xander, & Ronan (nicknamed for their apocolyptic dynamic on the football field) of the Royal Elite, & their lovey loves.

Elsa: aka the Ice Queen, is a new addition to the RES student body who have all all for the most part grown up together. Her first day in the school, Aiden targets her seemingly at random, tells her he will destroy her life, & then walks away like NBD. From that moment I was HOOKED. Why? Because it was absolutely insane, made no sense - I needed an explanation.

Elsa's family died when she was young, she believes in a fire, though she has NO MEMORIES of her childhood. She lives with her adoptive parents, her Aunt & Uncle & they're all obssesed with each other.

Aunt is an ageless beauty, basically. Her face hasn’t changed an inch since that day she took my small hand in hers and promised me a new life. People believe in guardian angels, I believe in Aunt Blair and Uncle Jaxon

She starts to get suspish that they know more than they're letting on about her childhood though, since Aiden seems to know something as well.

NOW: The Four Horsemen.
They're fucked. Truly, a toxic, competitve, unapologetically petty, but hilarious crew. They have rich AF parents (like the rest of RES) & lots of expectations to live up to. As children, the 4 were kidnapped. It lasted one day, they were returned unharmed - all except Aiden. It's a big question mark what happened to him- his friends know he was gone but not what happened.

Ronan: Playboy, pothead, son of an Earl, lighthearted, jokester. His parents are always gone, so he has lots of parties - I mean LOTS of parties. He also loves to joke with Elsa & her BFFL & significant later MC Kimberly about having a threesome. Jokes about being killed by Aiden are among my favorite of his dialogue.

“Don’t say a word about the threesome suggestion. My life depends on it.”
Still clutching Xander, Aiden grabs Ronan by the back of his nape.
“My chips!” Ronan hugs a bowl to his chest as Aiden drags them both away.
“Tell everyone I was a good person!” Ronan shouts over his shoulder at me. “I want this line on my tombstone, He had a 7 inch dick and used it well.”

Cole: Most like Aiden of the crew - he's silent but deadly. Reads a bunch. I have a lot to say about Cole, I read his book 1st (though it's #7) & I just.... love him. He is the darkest of the dark. His book is AMAZING. Anyway, moving on.

Xander: Closest to Ronan, he is a jokester & approachable, but has a dark streak like Aiden when provoked. He hates Kimberly, Elsa has no idea why, but it's a common theme.

Aiden:Last but not least - the man of the hour. Aiden lives with his dad Jonathan, & cousin Levi (until Levi goes away to school anyway, per book 0). He views his father as a robot kind of... & he does seem that way. he & his father are BIG FANS of Chess Metaphors, like:

“Those who don’t play think that the king is the most important piece because the game is over when he dies. They don’t know that the king is useless without his queen.”

Walk don't run (metaphorically) to this book ppl.
