I loved the book because it shows how awful rich people can be. Phillipa tries to protect her youngest brother and his wife, but they still speak badly about them. Adam's mother does not like, Elaine, Phillipa's sister-in-law, who is so kind and gentle. Richard, her oldest brother was the earl and wanted her to marry Lord Walter Ruthersby. She could not stand him. He was smug, rude, and thought he was better than anyone else. Phillipa was finally introduced to Mr. Myles Cobbett, formerly, a Captain of his majesty's army. His face was badly scarred on the left side and he had lost two of his fingers also on the left side. It was a caring and kind book, most wanted to just help. It is well worth the time to read. It is well written, easy to read, and the characters are marvelous!
