Not a spoof!
I am just amazed at the richness of storytelling here. I thought this would be a comical parody and instead found a combination of Dracula, Amish romance, and science fiction. It was fantastic! I'm ready to read about zombies now!
My criticism would be that there were some editing issues. Very minor, but noticeable (more than in a typical novel). Also, the story dragged a bit at the beginning and rushed the action at the end. I was also unhappy with some of the section breaks and chapter breaks as they killed the action! Still not enough for me to rate this lower, but I'll warn you, this isn't a masterpiece.

Thanks for the kind review, Matthew. I'm in the process of doing some light corrections on the manuscript (preparing for a 10-year-anniversary release) and I'm curious what editing issues you ran into. And the section/chapter breaks you found troublesome. I'd like to fix those, if possible.
