3.5🌟 i thought silas and tara were SO sweet! the progression of their relationship felt super natural and i loved the way he saw the real her. i also really enjoyed feeling like we were joining this group on the tours through India. the scenery was vivid and the food descriptions made my stomach growl. the discussions on cultural identity amongst the kids on the trip, tara and silas, and even their parents felt really lived in and i think anyone trying to find their place within their culture can relate in some capacity.

i would've loved if we had a bit more time to explore tara's relationship with her sister and to see more of silas and tara's dynamic once they returned home from the trip. i also didn't realize tara was a side character in another novel by Nisha, and i think if i had read that first, i would've had a clearer understanding of her situation in the beginning of this story.

i’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the story: “And this hand, Tara thought, was steady. That meant a lot to her after being so unsure of everything for the last few months.”
