it was amazing

I first read about Mustique Island in “Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown” by Anne Glenconner. I immediately fell in love with the concept: a private island in the West Indies that served as the exclusive sanctuary for royalty, rock stars, celebrities and heads of industry to relax in anonymity - what perfect storytelling terrain, no? Naturally, when I saw the title of this book I jumped excitingly in and found myself impressed with the raw and colorful look into 70’s wealthy culture. I would be an ass not to mention the excellent trio of themes — family, identity, and women hood — and their unexpected chemistry with the setting (who’d think a party island for the influential would foster family connection?). Pretty cute book, makes me want to go to the beach 🏝️
