** spoiler alert ** It took me a few days to finish this one. Maybe because it’s so much like the others and maybe because I just wasn’t impressed with Zeke’s behavior the night of his wedding. He essentially had to SA his new bride in front of the elders of the church and the story reads like he hated that, but his ACTIONS showed that it wasn’t that big of a deal. He spend his wedding night pretty much sexting his ex from the sex club, while the woman you would assume had been traumatized from the experience was asleep in the next room, left with no comfort, no genuine apology or care. I had to lay the book down for a while because this is the third book where this traumatic experience is talked about as horrible, but soon forgotten as if it doesn’t affect both parties involved. And in Zeke’s case I just felt like his behavior made him even less concerned about his new wife and more selfish mourning his former life as a dominant and having to give up Ms. M. 🙄
Now after that first night things progressed quickly for Zeke and the h. I loved how they helped each other and supported each other and began to build a relationship.
I think I’m just not that into “scenes” and dom/sub structured relationships. I think I like more organic kink, meaning you enjoy the toys and all the things but less so in a structured talk about every single thing to death way. If that makes sense. Even the word “scene” sounds detached and hollow.
After hearing how Zeke reminisced about scenes with Ms. M, I felt less like the h was actually incredible, but more likely just available and giving him what he wanted sexually. Also, the close proximity forced the relationship along. There were moments toward the end that I felt like it was becoming more real. I love that communication is key in these books. There is misunderstanding, but it’s cleared up quickly in a very mature way.
Overall it was ok, even if I did begin to skip a lot to get to the end.
