** spoiler alert ** Three stars is me being generous. I did finish this book, and I found the plot interesting enough, but it made me realise what I hate about so many novels. I really dislike when authors try to get me emotional. I just want the facts, and don't want to constantly read about how agonizing someone's heartache is. The throbbing pain... the bile rising at the thought of... Etc. There is a lot of that in this book.
Also there were multiple love stories in this book based on what could only be a brief infatuation that led to lifelong obsession with the other party, and finally a reunion and, spoiler, lifelong love together.
I don't recommend it, but still found it compelling.
