The One where Joey Eats Rachel’s English Trifle
*cue Joey eating the trifle*

I like it!
What’s not to like?
Custard? Characters.... Good!
Jam? Plot.... Goooood!
Meat? Kyrian.... Goooooooood!

Okay, this book is better than Rachael’s meat, peas, onions, whip cream, jam and raspberry English trifle. Way better! It has all of the ingredients for a steamy, edgy, exciting and faced paced adventure.

Although it’s definitely a read that’s outside of my preferred genre, I feel Sherrilyn Kenyon has what it takes to hook most paranormal/urban fantasy fans with her Dark Hunter Series and Night Pleasures was a great installment!

I loved all the snarky dialog between Amanda and Kyrian. They make a great pair and not just in the convo department. There is definitely a lot of steam between these two characters. A LOT! But, the great thing about it is that Kenyon does a great job of developing their characters that you come to instantly like them, so reading the spice doesn’t feel awkward or forced.

I really liked the secondary characters in this novel, especially Nick. I hope he makes more appearances in the upcoming books. He’s funny, smart and loyal to Kyrian, which was admirable. He was an instant hit for me. I’d also love to read more about Talon and possibly some of the Dream Hunters. Great additions to the storyline.

The mythology that’s infused into the storyline is done just right. I like to hear about the Greek gods and how they play a role in the current day conflict. I will admit, the paranormal lore can be a bit confusing and I was left wondering about the full extent of Amanda’s powers. I would have loved to read more on that, but overall I enjoyed the ride and I’ll definitely be continuing with this serried. GOOD!!!

~Tina~ Haha, I didn't get very far, I know;p I actually just got into them since I bought Kenyon YA book; Infinity (Chronicles of Nick, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon which had the young Dark Hunter characters so Kim thought it would be best to get introduced to the world. Still need to read the daddies before I begin with the child >.<

Arlene Yes, I think Lora told me about this one. I want to read it too, but right now, I'm having too much fun with the guys, so the boys have to wait a bit. LOL

~Tina~ Hehe! I totally agree:)

Crystal LOL! I want to read that one too, but I am with you two I want more of the men =p

Arlene Yum!

Lora This is from an interview with Kenyon:

Question: "What can you tell us about the upcoming Chronicles of Nick?
Answer: It starts the day Nick meets Kyrian and chronicles his years as a Squire.
We get to see the DH world through the eyes of the Squires and through Nick’s individual experiences.
There should be 10 books in the series and it ends when Night Pleasures begins.

And a note to Dark-Hunter fans. The Chronicles of Nick
is Nick’s real and true past."

So, basically, the Chronicles of Nick tells everything leading up to Night Pleasures. After the conclusion of Nick's back story, he's supposed to get his own adult novel with a heroine and everything.

I don't want to be spoilery, but there's a lot more to Nick's story that I think you'd like, Arlene. You could wait a long time to start the YA series, though, since there'll be 10 installments before Nick gets his own adult book.

Great review, Arlene. :)

Arlene Thanks Mayomi!

Oh!!! I liked Nick ALOT in this book. Okay, I need to rethink my strategy. Thanks Lora, I didn't know that! :D

Crystal OHHH I thought Nick would be Julians son! I am super excited that it is the other one. Hmmm Arlene what are we gonna do???

Thanks for the info Lora!

Jenn Kyrian is HILARIOUS!!!! I love his sarcastic self. Nick is just as sarcastic and funny. But I would say read all the dark hunter/were hunter/dream hunter stories first up to the newest one, Retribution, then go back to the books of Nick. Nick is going to tick you off eventually later in the Dark Hunter books. :i

Arlene Sounds good. We were going to read one or two more DH before starting Nick's book, but sounds like we should wait. Thanks for the rec!

I really liked this series, but I think I only got to book 3 and I fell behind. I'm in the mood for something different, so maybe it's time to re-visit this series. :)

I hope you enjoy it Claire if you decide to give it a go.
