The adventure continues in Djèlí's Steampunk Cairo of 1912, introducing us to two investigators from the Ministry of Alchemy, Charms and Supernatural Entities who are called in to investigate an apparition that has attacked a passenger on tram 015.

Agent Hamed al-Nasr (28 y.o.) has been assigned a rookie, Onsi, who shows all his enthusiasm in this assignment against Hamed who sees everything from the perspective of more paperwork.

Meanwhile, Cairo is shaken by the suffragette movement.

THE interesting part is the look at this world where modernity is sought, and where the world of the supernatural has changed the axis of culture (despite what some traditionalists wish), and various African, Egyptian, Sudanese cultures coexist, along with western fashions; goddess worshipers as well as Islamists. Along with djinns who have lived many more than these 40 years among humans. And there is also the tremendous curiosity of how this world will turn out where they have got rid of the English, French and German colonies and so many events that demarcated the pre-world war era.

*One of the most interesting parts is the theory of how evil takes shape under the idea of men.

Nataliya New Zealand seems more and more like a pretty good place to call home (based on your note in the end). I’ll chalk it under “retirement plans” just in case.
