Sergio I read it many years ago and I think it is one of Steibeck's less successful works

Murray It is written in simplicity it’s true and not as layered and complex as In Dubious Battle or The Grapes of Wrath. However I feel it fits in well in the biblical parabolic category or among the Zen koans.
