Seven Seas puts out a survey every month asking for suggestions for potential official English licenses. Would love to know what everyone else would like to see officially published.

I don’t know of any non-licensed Japanese light novels or manga so I only fill out the non-Japanese part of the survey.

They break it down into 4 categories:

1) light novels from Japan
2) manga from Japan
3) novels from any country besides Japan
3) comic/graphic novel/webtoon from any country besides Japan

Here’s what I always request not in order (you can only request two) ❤️

Novels (all danmei)
1)Mistakenly Saving the Villain
2)Married Thrice to a Salted Fish
3)Silent Reading (ETA: recently picked up by SS!)
4)Joyful Reunion (ETA: recently picked up by SS!)
5)Mist
6)Faraway Wanderers

Manhua/manhwa/graphic novel/comic/webtoon
1) King’s Maker (manhwa)
2) TGCF (ETA: Picked up by Aloha Comics (art from the donghua, not the Starember art that was on Bilibili)
3) Little Mushroom

Here’s the link for August if anyone wants to fill it out!

Hi Stacie, You are better informed than me but I definitely would like “Faraway Wanderers” and “Married Thrice to a Salted Fish”…

Great idea to include the survey as a link!

Monique | 17 comments For the novels I always request:
Faraway Wanderers
Lord Seventh
Devil Venerable also wants to know

and this time I did Married Thrice to a Salted Fish becasue I heard so much good things about it and haven't read ot yet.

For manhua:
The Beloved Noble Consort is a Man
Legend of exorcism
Saved the Public Enemy by Mistake
The Disciple wants to rebel

Calista | 145 comments I fill this out every month as well. I put every Priest novel on there. I'll add all these to mine as well. If we are asking in mass for something, they'll more than likely try and license it. We need to ask as a group.

Thanks for the titles.

message 8: by Laura (new)

Laura | 7 comments I requested "married thrice to salted fish' as well this month.

I also asked for 'See you my king' which is a bl webtoon inspired by ancient Egypt. If anyone else has read it online I'd love to know.

leo✩ (dl0_animati0ns) | 5 comments Thank you for the link!! I'll most likely request a bunch of Priest novels because I've heard good things about their writing and I'd like to read a few (including the ones that are already licensed)

message 10: by Christy (new)

Christy | 17 comments I keep requesting Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know since people really seem to like it! I also used to put in Clear and Muddy Loss of Love but Monogotari novels is publishing that one.

After reading through this thread, I'll be adding Mistakenly Saving the Villain, Faraway Wanderers, and Married Thrice to the Salted Fish to my suggestions! I'm excited to read those if/when they get official translations!

I just finished Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know today and think it would be a GREAT novel to be published in English! I’m going to request this too instead of Joyful Reunion since it just got announced as licensed by SS.

Also, I’m super excited about Clear and Muddy Loss of Love and Female General and Eldest Princess!

message 12: by Yari (new)

Yari | 15 comments excellent news, everyone! the publishing house hasn't announced it yet, so we don't know who, but this morning, JJWXC announced that Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know will be officially published in English in North America! I am so excited and happy, it is one of my favorite danmei novels!

message 13: by Emetis (new)

Emetis | 14 comments I've been requesting lord of the mysteries and I became a god in a horror game every month for the past 4 months now :,)

I hope it's Seven Seas, because their editions are illustrated and I'd love to see more illustrations for this novel.

message 15: by Eve (new)

Eve (yutosphere) | 17 comments Faraway Wanderers and Married Thrice to Salted Fish are ones I've been requesting for a while. Would like them to license The Villain Has Something to Say but idk cause Rosmei had already picked up another one of Mo Chen Huan's novels (my fav, The Earth Is Online). It'd be nice if we could have more non-historical danmei from Seven Seas, maybe a contemporary romcom danmei like Fight The Landlord, Fall in Love ; They All Say I've Met a Ghost, etc

Hello Eve! I vote for Faraway Wanderers every month as well. I add Lord Seventh to that because its the same world and Lord Seventh does show up in Faraway Wanderes. I want both since they overlap in some way.

message 20: by Magpie6493 (new)

Magpie6493 | 5 comments For me right now I'm really wanting to see Lord seventh and Faraway wanderers. I definitely need to try reading more Danmei to know what others would be great to request.

C (c_reads_books) | 15 comments Endlessly requesting Faraway Wanderers, Lord Seventh and Silent Reading!
Previously requested 14th Year of Chenghua but think I saw something about it getting an English license? Just don’t know who it’s with…

V. (vyvv) | 5 comments Married Thrice To A Salted Fish. Let’s make it happen! 🙏🏼

I’ve also been requesting Wait For Me After School for some time now, because that’s my favorite read this year. I hope to read more official modern novels, too. There are so many good ones out there.

Thank you for sharing the link!

message 26: by Calista (new)

Calista | 145 comments I feel like if they made each book around 500 pages, they would have less volumes and therefore, they could license more stories and complete them faster. That's my vote. Bigger books and more stories!!!

message 27: by Angel (new)

Angel | 7 comments Voted for Married Thrice to Salted Fish, Mo Du by Priest, and Little Mushroom Manhua!

I also voted to bring back the french flaps to the books and suggested they bring back the thicker paper to improve the quality of the interior illustrations. The text bleeding through the thin paper ruins the illustrations now. :(

Also agree with less volumes and increase the page count again.

message 28: by Katie❄️ (new)

Katie❄️ (theicequeen) | 67 comments I don’t mind the page count that they are at now. Less pages means more covers per series. More pages means less covers. That’s how I look at it anyways. I’d love more illustrations if they want to up there page count. I agree if you are not gonna give us hardcovers then at the VERY least give is the dang french flap cover. I feel like I paid the same amount as previous releases for less quality product.

It's so great to hear all your thoughts on publication details. I'm learning all the time.

Plus, I am quite impressed that Seven Seas actually asks their readers for preferences on a regular basis.
