"Getting a bit lost in all this physics talk because I haven’t taken the subject since freshman year. Also I’d like to get a physical copy and re-read Archimedes’ proofs (particularly the triangle/circle one) because it’s much harder to digest equations when they’re recited out loud. However I am greatly enjoying this ❤️❤️ already destined for the favorites shelf" Sep 05, 2024 07:38PM

At birth, they’d been charged by God with the responsibility of growing into total fuckups. Had they chosen this? Was it their fault, as they tumbled out of the womb? Had they aspired, covered in placental blood, to grow into harmers, dark ...more

Michelle Zauner
“Hers was tougher than tough love. It was brutal, industrial-strength. A sinewy love that never gave way to an inch of weakness. It was a love that saw what was best for you ten steps ahead, and didn't care if it hurt like hell in the meantime. When I got hurt, she felt it so deeply, it was as though it were her own affliction. She was guilty only of caring too much. I realize this now, only in retrospect. No one in this would would ever love me as much as my mother, and she would never let me forget it.”
Michelle Zauner, Crying in H Mart

“I remember these things clearly because that was how my mother loved you, not through white lies and constant verbal affirmation, but in subtle observations of what brought you joy, pocketed away to make you feel comforted and cared for without even realizing it.”
Michelle Zauner, Crying in H Mart

Emily Brontë
“He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights

Kathryn Schulz
“What an astonishing thing it is to find someone. Loss may alter our sense of scale, reminding us that the world is overwhelmingly large while we are incredibly tiny. But finding does the same; the only difference is that it makes us marvel rather than despair. In all the vast reaches of space, among all of life's infinite permutations, out of all the trajectories and possibilities and people on the planet, here I was, in this house, following along beside C. as she took my hand and led me out of the living room and into the kitchen, where, she told me, there was something else she wanted me to see.”
Kathryn Schulz, Lost & Found: A Memoir

“How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks.”
Dorothy L. Sayers, Gaudy Night
