It All Starts Here

There's a reason why the New Testament begins with John The Baptist preaching "repentance" for the forgiveness of sin.

Okay, I know the New Testament begins with the birth of Jesus; but for all intents and purposes, our journey begins with John..."repentance" is the gate that leads to life.

There is only one unforgivable sin...blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.  It means once you know God is real, you can only know that if the Holy Spirit reveals it to you.  When you know that you know, you can no longer deny that you know.  If you do, that makes you a liar...and all liars will burn in the lake of fire and brimstone. (Revelation 21:8) Ouch!

Think about that the next time you lie to your boss, your spouse, or anyone else.

God will forgive every sin (except the aforementioned "unforgivable sin"), so it is not "sin" that condemns you to hell...it's unforgiven sin.  "Repentance" is the first step on the road to life; and why Jesus said, "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

Even Jesus had to be baptized by John before beginning his ministry.  It was after John's baptism that Jesus received the Holy Spirit (like a dove descending from heaven). You might be wondering, if Jesus is God and committed no sins, why did he need to repent?

Do Not Be Deceived:  Jesus was not God.  He was a human, just as we; but he was the first to receive the Holy Spirit...the "first-born" of many. (Romans 8:29)  We know nothing of his youth, so it's possible that he "sinned" in his youth and needed to repent and be baptized before his ministry could begin. It's no different for us...until you repent, you will not (cannot) receive the Holy Spirit; thus, you are not reborn Spiritually and cannot see or enter the kingdom of God.

Until you repent of your sins, you will be separated from God (God does not hear the prayers of sinners).  If you've ever wondered why your prayers aren't answered, it could be unrepentant sin in your life.

"Repenting" opens the door for the Holy Spirit to enter.  Without the Holy Spirit, you cannot know, without a doubt, God is real.

Until you know, without a doubt, God is real...nothing else matters.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth

Believing in the "Rapture" relieves you of the responsibility to do anything except believe in Jesus...who will magically whisk you away to heaven. It's a lie, designed to keep you from preparing or being prepared for what's coming.
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

A lot of well-known and well-respected preachers talk about how long they have been preaching, as if the longer one preaches the more qualified one is to preach.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom

This may seem a strange question, but it never ceases to amaze me how few people allow God to play an active role in their daily lives. Why anyone would not want the creator of the universe to help them every second, every minute and every hour of every day, is simply beyond me.
Psalms 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
By Ray Evans May 6, 2020
The question in Psalms 15, "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?" probably has as many answers as there are preachers, but they all stem from a common belief: "Everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven." Sounds great, but is it true?
