A Pre-hibernation treat

A couple weeks ago our bears got treated to some Halloween pumpkin treats.

It was a final feast before moving into their hibernation area and starting their winter preparations.

Before delivery to the bears our Wildlife Rangers opened up the pumpkins but left the popular insides for the bears to chow down on. In addition we stuffed some extra goodies inside! We added fish, dog kibble, berries and fruit.

It was a smash!

The pumpkin rinds are not as popular as the watermelon ones that the bears get, so after the bears had their way with the pumpkins our rangers had to go in to do a clean up.

Stay tuned as the boys are now reaching their winter weights and winter sleep for the year is getting close!

See below for more photos of the pumpkin smash extravaganza.
