HCP Early Psychosis Release 1.1 of updated imaging and behavioral data is now available in the NIMH Data Archive (NDA). HCP-EP is a study of subjects ages 16-35 focused specifically on early psychosis, both affective and non-affective, within the first five years of the initial onset of psychotic symptoms. 

HCP-EP Release 1.1 data includes: 

• unprocessed data of all modalities (structural MRI, resting state fMRI, and diffusion MRI) for 183 subjects
• updated minimally preprocessed structural MRI data for 169 subjects
• updated clinical and behavioral data for 251 subjects (68 more than were released previously) + 

  corrections for a minority of subjects noted in the Appendix 3: Change Log 

What’s new in the HCP-EP 1.1 release?

• Preprocessed structural imaging data has been updated to include the intended CIFTI *.dscalar.nii and *.dlabel.nii brain maps.   
• Behavioral data has been updated to include the intended NIH Toolbox Cognition Composite Scores, Picture Sequence Memory Test, and Pattern Comparison Processing Speed Test data.  
• Behavioral data is available for 251 subjects (68 more than the 1.0 release)

• or can be filtered on to create a custom package of a subset of the data (OPTION TWO).

HCP-Early Psychosis Release 1.0 data is now available in the NIMH Data Archive (NDA). HCP-EP is a study of subjects ages 16-35 focused specifically on early psychosis, both affective and non-affective, within the first five years of the initial onset of psychotic symptoms. This time period is important as it is when there are fewer confounds such as prolonged medication exposure and chronicity, and it is also a time period where early intervention strategies may be most effective, before irreversible brain alterations take place, which likely begin early in the course of illness.

The HCP-Early Psychosis Release 1.0 includes: 

• unprocessed structural MRI, resting state fMRI, and diffusion MRI data for 183 subjects (34 affective and 91 non-affective psychotic patients, plus 58 matched healthy controls)
• minimally preprocessed structural MRI data for 169 subjects (33 affective and 80 non-affective psychotic patients, plus 56 matched healthy controls)
• clinical and behavioral data for released subjects 

The full release dataset (all available imaging + behavioral data) is available on the Connectomes Related to Human Disease (CRHD) Featured Datasets query page on NDA as a single shared package (1.3 TB, OPTION ONE), or as an unprocessed imaging + behavioral package (1.0 TB, OPTION ONE), or can be filtered by modality, processing level, and subject GUID to create a custom package of a subset of the data (OPTION TWO).

To access the data, start by creating an NDA account or login to your existing one. After login, go to your account’s Data Permissions dashboard. Here you can request or renew access electronically to one or many repositories in NDA, including CCF and others.

In the Actions column in the ABCD/CCF Permissions group row, select “Request Access” and complete the access request instructions to create a signed Data Use Certification (DUC). There are three criteria you must meet to be eligible to request NDA access:

1. You must have a research-related need to access the data

2. You must be associated with an NIH-recognized research institution, defined as an institution registered in the NIH electronic research administration system (eRA Commons) and have the approval of an authorized signatory official of that institution.

3. Your institution must have an active Federalwide Assurance (FWA).
