As we’ve already said, mirrors act as great wall decoration as they reflect light around the room, making the space seem airy and bigger (and who doesn’t want that – especially those living in expensive, tiny flats in big cities!). Mirrors work best facing opposite windows for this reason, as the natural light catches them beautifully. In your living room, consider big oval ones hung above your television, while in your bedroom, hang smaller rectangle versions which are also helpful for when you’re getting ready in the morning.

Art is also a great thing to slap on your walls. We have all different sorts of wall art available here. From wall hangings, wall stickers, prints, posters and canvases, find a texture, size and style that fits the room. Wall hangings are great for bedrooms, while dining rooms are sophisticated areas for hosting guests, so check out a sleek canvas. As for the kitchen or bathroom, wall stickers are perfect as tiles can be easily cleaned.

Clocks are also an essential type of wall decor. Practical and stylish, you’ll never be late again – well, that is if you can pry your eyes away from our stunning clock collection. From industrial, exposed wired clocks to rustic, copper ones, there’s one for every palette.

Finally, another practical wall decoration option is wall shelving. These are a great way to maximise the space in your adobe, adding more surface area to store books, plants and other knick knacks and trinkets.

How to match your wall decor to the rest of your furniture:

Now we’ve broken down the different options available to decorate your walls with, it’s time to think about how to make a coherent home decor.

So many choices, so many styles – no wonder it can get a tad overwhelming. Here a few simple steps for perfect pairings.

First, consider the room you’re in. If you’re in the living room, try and make sure it’s not OTT as you want to create a nice, relaxing environment. Look to statement pieces like your rugs, sofas, throws and cushions, and match the colour of any war decoration to the accents in these core pieces. As a general rule of thumb: pastels go together, yellow, red and orange is a stunning pairing and black and white is super chic. Corner shelves work great here, too – great for stacking DVDs and CDs and storing board games that you play together with friends and families.

As for your bedroom, this is the most personal area of your home so really let you taste come through. The easiest way to do this is with wall art. If you’re favourite colour is pink, lucky for you we’ve got some insanely sassy pink wall art to choose from. Pair with a lovely table lamp and fluffy white rug and you’ll be one happy bunny. Or, go for a stunning wooden one if you’ve got a proper country bumpkin style. A freestanding wall shelf is also a helpful addition. Use of these to store all your cookbooks and kitchen utensils.

How to hang your wall decor:

If you’re more Do-It-Never than DIY, let us help demystify some general home maintenance for you. All you need is a hammer, some hooks and a spirit level. Get your wall decoration, find the perfect spot on the wall using a spirit level to check it’s straight. Hammer a hook in (check there’s no wires behind the wall!) and then hang the wall decor off it. Voila!

We also understand that not everyone has the luxury of being able to put holes in your walls. If you’re renting and you’ve asked the landlord and they’ve said you can’t (make sure you do though, some don’t mind – trust us!), then here are some alternative options.

Plan A: do it but make sure you cover it up at the end of your tenancy. Filling in holes is a super simple procedure, all you need is some PVC wall filler that you can purchase in any hardware store.

Plan B: invest in some wall hanging stickers. Like velcro straps, you stick the furry side to the wall decoration and the sticky side to the wall and then stick them together. They’re specially designed not to leave any marks once you’re done, which is perfect for those with short term tenancies. You can buy these on Amazon or any good hardware store. They’re so easy to use that you may even want to use them even if you can hammer in hooks.
