Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a Wii U and Nintendo Switch game developed by Metroid: Prime developer Retro Studios. It is a sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was announced during Nintendo's pre-E3 Nintendo Direct on June 11, 2013. Tropical Freeze tells the story of animal Vikings invading and freezing Donkey Kong Island and challenges players to 2D side-scrolling stages spanning seven distinct worlds.
