Lore Books
The Elder Scrolls series’s popularity is frequently attributed to multiple factors, but one of the most important is the rich lore that gives a detailed historical backdrop to each story. This is no different in The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). Lore books are scattered throughout Tamriel and they occasionally allude to previous games, which are actually set in the future relative to ESO. However, these books most frequently serve to give to flesh out the main story line, side quests and the supernatural and political history of Tamriel.
These books are more than just compendiums of Lore; they are also essential to the Mage Guild quests. As a consequence any player who would like to complete that series of quests and by so doing level magical skills will need to assemble a sizable library.
Below, we have detailed the various lore books both to give you a sense of the lore for ESO and to guide you as you progress in the Mage Guild quests. Lore books are divided into series, each of which is most frequently found within a single zone:
Alik'r Desert Lore
The Alik'r Desert is an arid region in Hammerfell dotted with dungeons and resilient settlements such as Sentinel and Bergama. The lore of this region is chronicled in in some notable series, in particular the history of Redguards.

Biographies
Jorun the Skald-King - Found on the side of the road between Davons Watch and Bal Foyen. It's sitting in a small encampment off the side of the road.
The Illusion of Death - Found in the Stonefalls area. Head into the dungeon Hightide Hollow, found east of the town of Ebonheart. Get to the very end to find the book on a table.
Triumphs of a Monarch, Ch.10 - Found in the Stonefalls area. Head to the north-west corner of the map. There you will find a large bridge. Beneath it, on the south side is this book.
Triumphs of a Monarch, Ch.3 - Found in the Stonefalls area. West of Ebonheart is a location named The Matron's Clutch. Head in the large boat there, and go to the bottom section of the boat to find the book.
Triumphs of a Monarch, Ch.6 - Found in the Stonefalls. Head to the north beach, then go to the Shipwreck Strand. Just a little east, among some ship rubble is this book.
Galerion the Mystic - Found in the Stonefalls area. Head west from the Brothers of Strife wayshrine, and you will find this book just as you reach the small lava lake.

Daedric Princes
Aedra and Daedra - Found in the Stonefalls area. It is just south-east of The Lady shrine, tucked behind a rock overlooking the lava.
Boethiah's Proving - Found just south of Ebonheart in the Stonefalls area. It's in a small enemy camp overlooking the town.
The House of Troubles - Found in the Deshaan area, in the north part of the map, near the middle where Mzithumz is located. The book is found behind a rock, sitting on a crate.
Deshaan Lore
Dwemer Dungeons, What I Know - Found in the Deshaan area, in the very south-west of the map. The book can be found in a building off the side of the road that leads into Malak's Maw.
Legend of the Ghost Snake - Found in the Deshaan area, south of Narsis. It is tucked behind a tree, sitting on a crate. The NPC Donen Llervu can be seen in front of the tree in golden armor.
Shad Astula Academy Handbook - Found in the Deshaan area, in the Narsis village on the west side of the map. The book is in the basement of the smallest house in the town.
War of Two Houses - Found in the Deshaan area, west of the town of Muth Gnaar. The book is sitting on a table in the middle of an enemy encampment.
Divines and Deities
Monomyth: Dragon God and Missing God - Found in the Stonefalls area, inside a dungeon called Softloam Cavern. This dungeon can be found on the west side of the map, near the road in the south that runs to Kragenmoor.
Monomyth: Shezarr's Song - Found in the Deshaan area, in the settlement of Selfora. In one of the ruined houses in the north section of town is this book.
Monomyth: The Myth of Aurbis - Found in the Deshaan area. It's on the far east of the map, on the shore just before the boat.
The Anuad Paraphrased - This book is found in the Stonefalls area. It's on the west side of the map, just north of the wayshrine for the Ashen Road. Head north from the shrine until you find three spiders, and the book will be behind them.
The Lunar Lorkhan - Found in the Stonefalls area. Head to the far west of the map, to the Iliath Temple. Just a little bit to the east of the icon on the map is a small tent, and inside is the book.
Dungeon Lore
With Regards to the Ebony Blade - Found in the Stonefalls area, inside the Fungal Grotto dungeon, located on the west side of the map. After entering the dungeon, the book can be seen on the left.
Dwemer
Ancient Scrolls of the Dwemer I-A - Found in the Stonefalls. Head to the north beach, then go to the Shipwreck Strand. Just a little east, among some ship rubble is this scroll.
Ancient Scrolls of the Dwemer II - Found just north of the Ash Mountain marker on the Stonefalls map. It is tucked behind some rocks, with lava surrounding it.
Ancient Scrolls of the Dwemer III - Found in the Stonefalls area. It is found along the Ashen Road, the only path leading south from Stonefalls and into Deshaan. It is right beside Stonefalls Skyshard 7, in the midst of some lava.
Ancient Scrolls of the Dwemer X - Found in the Deshaan area, in the settlement of Selfora. The book is found on the top floor of the large building in the west of town.

Magic and Magicka
On the Detachment of the Sheath - This book is found in the Deshaan area. It's inside the town of Mournhold, in a building on the east side called The Flaming Nix. Head inside and enter the first door on the right to find it.
The Old Ways - This book is found in the Deshaan area. To the east of Mournhold is a wayshrine called Ghost Snake Vale. Follow the small road east from it to find the book simply laying on the ground.
Manual of Spellcraft - Found in the Deshaan area, on the east side of the map. It's found near the Tal'Deic Grounds wayshrine. Head south-east from the shrine to find it.
Malabal Tor Lore
Myths of the Mundus
Noxiphilic Sanguivoria - Found in the Deshaan area, on the west side of the map. Head west past Narsis, and where the road splits north and south you will find a large rock. Behind it is the book.
Stonefalls Lore
Ancestors and the Dunmer Abridged - Found at Othrenis, on the Stonefalls map. It is found at a small shrine, behind a stone column on the south side of the complex.
The Brothers of Strife - In the Stonefalls, head down the south road out of Davon's Watch. The book is in the second house on the east side of the road, in the settlement of Senie.
Varieties of Faith: The Dark Elves - Found in the Stonefalls area, inside the largest building at Fort Arand, a location in the south of the map, in the middle section.

Tamriel History
Ayleid Inscription Translated - Found in the Stonefalls area. Head to the north side of the Emberflint Mines to find a couple green tents. This book is hidden behind one of the tents.
