The Nite Owls, also known as the Mandalorian Resistance, are a part of the Star Wars universe.
Description
The Nite Owls are a splinter faction of Mandalorian warriors lead by Bo-Katan Kryze. Once a sub unit within Death Watch the Nite Owls split off from the other splinter faction when Pre Vizsla was slain by Darth Maul and claimed the rule of Mandalore. The Nite Owls then became known as the Mandalorian Resistance when they began conducting a guerrilla war against Maul's Death Watch Loyalist.

History
The Nite Owls started out as a sub unit within the larger splinter faction known as Death Watch. Lead by Bo-Katan Kryze, the trusted lieutenant of Death Watch's leader Pre Vizsla, they fought along side the other Death Watch members in their attempt to restore the ancient warrior traditions of Mandalore back into the New Mandalorian culture. The Nite Owls were with the other Death Watch members on Carlac during their subjugation and enslavement of the native peoples.
The Nite Owls helped in the formation of the Shadow Collective. However, the Nite Owls went along with the rest of Death Watch when Pre Vizsla betrayed the Sith brothers and imprisoned them. When Maul escaped and challenged Vizsla to single combat a few members of the Nite Owls, incuding Bo-Katan, were there to witness the fight. When Vizsla lost Maul claimed by leadership over Death Watch and Mandalore by the ancient rites of Mandalore. Not wanting an outside and a Sith to rule Mandalore Bo-Katan refused to follow the ancient tradition. Bo-Katan lead the Nite Owls in a guerrilla civil war on Mandalore against the Maul's Death Watch Loyalists.
The Nite Owls conducted a raid on a Mandalorian prison to free the former Duchess of Mandalore Satine Kyze, Bo-Katan's sister. Allowing the Mandalorian rebels to escape with Satine so that she could contact Obi-Wan Kenobi was part of Maul's plan to get revenge. Once Satine had made contact Death Watch overwhelmed the Nite Owls and recaptured Satine.
After the capture of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the death of Satine Kryze the Nite Owls executed a mission to save the captured Jedi. The faction was successfull in this attempt, and they bought Kenobi enough time to escape the planet. Bo-Katan ordered Kenobi to return to the Galactic Republic and inform them of Mandalore's situation. Kenobi believed that would lead to a Republic invasion of Mandalore.
It is currently unknown whether or not the invasion happened, and what became of Bo-Katan and the Nite Owls. What is known is that after the transformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire an Imperial Academy was established on Mandalore. From this the current speculation is that the Republic did invade Mandalore and took complete control of the planet when it became the Empire. [1]
