What is a movie prop master?
Normally it's the title of the person in charge of ALL props, (pencils, chairs, desks, flags, curtains, lamps, etc.) not just guns or weapons related gear. However, in the politically correct atmosphere we live in now, many folks (especially the ANTI-GUN people) freak out if you say you're an armorer or gun wrangler. So many years ago, I got into the habit of just blurting out that I was a Movie Prop Master so that people didn't get all weird on me. I intentionally implied that all movie weapons were harmless since they only fired 'blanks'. Not true of course, we use mostly live firing weapons, except for the replicas, airsoft stand ins, and rubber stunt guns, but I'd rather not have some local city councilperson make a stink about any local film production because the set has 'live guns(!)' on it. Only a few times have I ever fully been the "Prop Master" i.e. in charge of ALL props, weapons related or not, on a set, and they were small films. I actually HATE hunting for table cloths or chairs or curtains for a movie. The only cool thing is when I'm doing a historical film and I have to dress up a WW2 officer's office or a Command Post in Vietnam. That's actually fun. :)
Members must have their age and Country listed if they want any questions answered by me
This is a recent phenomenon. I've had to delete entire paragraphs of responses when I realized someone's age or the fact that they are from another country (than the U.S.) I don't like sounding like a jerk when I assume that someone is (a) an adult or (b) an American when they are not. It also helps creating responses that are more appropriate and sensitive to cultural differences. I am also much MUCH more forgiving of someone if they're (say 13 yrs old) versus talking with someone who is 40. Yes, it DOES make a difference. I forget sometimes that our fellow members are young and it's wrong for older members to slam them like I sometimes come off as doing :). Ultimately, it's not up to ME to guess. I don't like responding to mystery guests, when members don't think they have the time to create a user profile. Thanks for your cooperation.

Usage of My original Gun Photographs
- 95% of the gun images that I upload were photographed by me. They are either movie rental guns from my own company inventory or those of my fellow movie armorers. Some of the others are place holders until I can get an original image of the same weapon. I grant IMFDB.org copyright usage of my own images as long as they are unaltered or unmodified.
Were some guns used in a specific movie?
I don't mention that a particular gun was from a particular movie unless I'm pretty sure, since grabbing one out of a rack of dozens doesn't guarantee that the gun was actually used in any specific movie. Some of them are obvious and when an armorer specifically tells me (this gun was used in movie _ _ _ _) I take them at their word. :)
Keeping a list of the gun pics I upload
- I take these custom gun photos to make IMFDB the place with the best gun photos on the net :) Also high quality photos of many of these guns are sadly lacking so this is one of my missions.
(Starting slow and getting even better batches of uploads :) )
