WEST FARGO — The Red River Valley Fair saw record-breaking attendance numbers this year. It's the second year in a row the fair managed to break the record.
Last year, 137,000 people went to the fair. Red River Valley Fair Association CEO Cody Cashman said they beat that record by about 2,000, with around 139,000 people making their way to the fair over its 10-day run.

Cashman said they were hoping for even greater numbers. He thinks the heat and some rainy days may have stopped people from coming out.
"We started off with a very powerful weekend and ended very strong, but I would say our last few days were a little slow, considering the weather," Cashman said.
He said he is happy with how this year's festivities went, but he is already planning on making next year's fair even bigger.
"We plan next year's fair at this fair," Cashman said. "So, you know, we're already working on making a lot of changes that we think will be not only more profitable for the fair, but a better experience for the people that come to the fair."
He said he would like to add a kids' show to next year's fair to try and get more families to come out. They are also considering bringing in a stand-up comedian, something they have not tried before.
"I want this place to be North Dakota Disneyland," he said. "I want people to want to come here, bring their families — this is their fair. I want them to be proud of it, and so we're not done. We got a lot of improvements to make."
