A first-quarter safety set the tone in a game that the Bison defense dominated. NDSU limited Colorado State to 243 yards and 11 first downs. The Rams gained 69 of those yards on their third play from scrimmage. "I feel really proud about it," Bison linebacker Grant Olson said. "Any time you hold an FBS team to seven points ... it's quite an accomplishment."

North Dakota State scored 28 points in the second quarter to earn its second consecutive victory against the Gophers. Bison cornerback Marcus Williams scored two touchdowns, including one off a Colten Heagle interception and lateral on the final play of the first half. "Our guys had a whole lot of confidence coming in," Bison head coach Craig Bohl said. "We didn't play perfectly, but we certainly played well enough to win."

Junior kicker Ryan Jastram made field goals of 44 and 32 yards to lift the Bison to victory before 48,417 fans at Memorial Stadium. "Biggest win of my life and the biggest game of my life," Jastram said. "It feels great coming down here to a Big 12 school and doing this. Not many people get this opportunity."

The Bison had trouble slowing down Iowa State's spread offense, which gained 442 yards and had 26 first downs. NDSU running back Pat Paschall rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn't enough. "We're disappointed with the loss," Bison head coach Craig Bohl said. "We came in with the attitude to win and we didn't get it done."

Wyoming 16, NDSU 13

At Laramie, Wyo.

Wyoming kicker Jake Scott hit a 29-yard field goal with 4 seconds remaining to cap a string of 16 unanswered points. NDSU led 13-0 in the third quarter, but couldn't hold on for the victory. "This one did get away from us," NDSU defensive end Nick Compton said. "We were 20-2 (record) the last two years, so this is new to a lot of guys."

Running back Tyler Roehl rushed for a school-record 263 yards and quarterback Steve Walker completed 20 of 25 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns. The Bison finished with 585 yards from scrimmage. "We just weren't good enough and they were better up front," Gophers head coach Tim Brewster said. "I tip my hat to North Dakota State, they were just more physical than we were."

Running back Tyler Roehl rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns, helping the Bison rack up 436 yards from scrimmage. "I wouldn't really call it an upset," Bison head coach Craig Bohl said. "We felt going in that we'd have to play well. We felt going in that it'd be a close ballgame. I don't know if that's an upset."

The Gophers blocked an NDSU 42-yard field goal in the final seconds to hold off the Bison before 62,845 fans at the Metrodome. NDSU had a 380-249 edge in total offense. "It was great to see what Big Ten football is all about," Bison linebacker Joe Mays said. "It was fun, but at the same time, we're still bummed about the loss."

NDSU quarterback Steve Walker threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Travis White with 1 minute, 25 seconds remaining to secure the victory. Walker completed 29 of 46 passes for 451 yards and three touchdowns. "We will not be underestimated again, I can tell you that," Bison cornerback Richard Bowman said. "We're a program on the rise."
