The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking for a full-time Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. This post is one focusing on Deformity/Orthognathic subspecialist interest and general OMFS work. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team of supportive consultants providing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Services to the County of Shropshire and a substantial part of the adjacent Welsh County of Powys.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our existing team. The Department of Gastroenterology provides a service to the county of Shropshire and Mid Wales and currently consists of 8 Consultant Gastroenterologists and 1 Consultant Hepatologists working across both hospital sites.

The successful candidate will be expected to integrate into the working of the respiratory department but also to develop their own interests. We are looking to attract an enthusiastic candidate with a wide experience of respiratory and general medicine. The job plan is illustrative of current working and that meets the needs of the Trust.  The Trust is open to accommodating the interests and skillset of the candidate. Currently, the post holder will be expected to do most of their clinical work at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site. Contribution to an out of hours on call rota is core to this role.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, highly driven Consultant Anaesthetist with a passion for anaesthesia to join our expert and energetic team. This role will have some theatres sessions at the Royal Shrewsbury and some at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. We currently have two vibrant hospital sites each with a varied range of services available.

The post holder is therefore required to have full registration with the General Medical Council & a valid licence to practice and be on the specialist register for their allied specialty +/- Intensive Care Medicine or be within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.

The post-holder will also have a significant role in the delivery of the new curricular components of Year 5 of the Keele University Medical School Curriculum. The post holder will support teaching in the “year spine” component of the fourth year of the curriculum, including ethics, drug administration and pain management. The curriculum is in a continuous process of development, presenting other opportunities for training and participation in other varied teaching activities. These include problem-based learning, clinical and communication skills tuition, and use of advanced medical simulation (via use of SimMan 3G). Post holders will receive formal training in advanced medical simulation.

The Trust is seeking to appoint a locum Consultant from February 2025 for 12 months to replace an existing gap in the consultant team. The full consultant team consists of 7 Neonatologists/ Neonatal Paediatricians.

The posts attract 10 Pas, part time applicants and job share applications will be welcomed. Additional interests in echocardiography, neonatal neurology, neonatal respiratory medicine or education would be particularly welcome. Contribution to an out of hours on call rota is core to this role.
The trust will subsequently be advertising two substantive neonatal/neonatal paediatrician consultant posts (one replacement post and one new post) to fully embed RCPCH 7 day standards and safe consultant working within the neonatal department.

The Department of Gastroenterology provides a service to the county of Shropshire and Mid Wales and currently consists of 9 Consultant Gastroenterologists and 1 Consultant Hepatologists working across both hospital sites.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust for an enthusiastic, highly driven Teaching Fellow at ST4+ level. The post is for a period of one year and will provide the successful applicant with the necessary skills required to become a confident and competent teacher, as well as gaining experience within Paediatric/Neonatology. The postholder will work non-clinically supporting education and simulation programmes throughout the Trust 2.5 days (on average) per week. They will also work clinically in Paediatrics or Neonatology for the remaining  2.5 days (on average) per week (including  tier 2 out of hour on calls). The department offers a wide variety of paediatric subspecialties, which can be offered dependent upon the interest of the successful applicant. This interest could be incorporated in their 2.5 days per week of clinical work, for example to gain experience to apply for GRID or SPIN posts.

This post is not recognised for training but interested applicants can apply for an Out of Programme Experience with their Specialty School.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for fixed term Locally Employed Doctors in Anaesthetics with opportunities available across both sites including a full shift rota responsibility dedicated to a single site with potential opportunities of cross site working during normal working hours.

Duties will principally involve supported cover of elective theatre sessions, an on-call commitment to the emergency theatres and occasional daytime work in the Intensive Care Unit. There will be scope to increase sessional commitments during day- and night-time in Intensive Care if considered appropriate.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Obstetrician with an interest in Fetomaternal Medicine to a new substantive post. You will join a team of 27 consultants working across the field of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in a busy District General Hospital. This post is an Obstetrics only role covering Fetal Medicine Scanning, Antenatal clinics, and resident shifts (acute work) with no non-resident on-calls.  All acute services including the labour ward are based at the Princess Royal site with antenatal clinics also provided at both the Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital sites.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Obstetrician with an interest in Perinatal Mental Health. You will join a team of 27 consultants working across the field of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in a busy District General Hospital. This post is an Obstetrics only role covering antenatal clinics, postnatal debrief clinics, elective caesarean section lists and resident on calls with no non-resident shifts.  All acute services including the labour ward are based at the Princess Royal site with antenatal clinics also provided at both the Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital sites.
