Hi! My name is ***** ***** I'm the firearms expert here at Just Answer. Please give me a moment to review your question/issue. I will reply back shortly.
Do you have a photo of your gun so that I can determine the model?
Can you give me one more side photo of the entire gun?
Yes, absolutely. Whenever you send it, I'll be notified.
Hi,
My name is Jon. I see you have opted out with Jim. Would you like me to help you with your question, or would you like to wait for Jim to answer you back?
I am sure Jim will continue to help you. He is probably just away at this time. I am sure he will be back with you within 24 hours
No problem.
Hi,
Once you opt out an expert they can no longer reply to you.
Your pistol is the Model 1903 Pocket Hammer Pistol. There were approximately 26,000 manufactured between 1903 and 1929. Your gun was produced in 1910.
The original finish was blued metal with checkered black hard rubber grips. Barrel length is 4.5"
Your gun is not original, .The wooden grips are after-market and it looks to have been professionally refinished which does not hurt the value. I think the engraving was done at a later date and not from the factory, Possibly at the time of refinishing, but the only way to know for sure is with a Colt Factory letter which can cost up to $150. If the engraving was done at the factory I would add another 20% to the values below.
Value for a 98% gun is $4000, if the engraving was factory done it would raise it another $&50 to $1000. A 95% gun is valued at $2750 plus the $750 to $1000 for the engraving. I would rate your gun in between the 2 with a value of $3500
These are private party values, expect 25% less for a trade and 20% to 25% more for retail.
