ThreeWill recently adopted a flexible PTO policy. It will be interesting to see how this impacts how, when and how often people take PTO. While there is no cap on PTO, it does have to be approved to ensure that our client commitments are met. Has anyone else moved to this type of PTO policy? If so, how do you like it? Want to turn 15 days of PTO into 52 days off??! If it sounds too good to be true, then it just might be. As we roll into the holiday season and the next calendar year, a lot of employees will want to start planning out their holidays and time off for 2024. Employees hoping to maximize their PTO should first and foremost consult their Employee Handbook to ensure their company’s Time Off Policy will even allow them to stack their PTO accruals against holidays and weekends. While some companies may offer a lenient PTO policy, others are simply unable to do so. For example, it is quite common for companies to offer paid vacation days, as long as the employee would have been scheduled to work that day, and some companies will even require you to be scheduled the days before and after the holiday in order to receive a paid holiday. I am not saying that companies should change their PTO policy, although some data show that it would help with attracting and retaining talent. What I am saying is that as an employee, it is in your own best interest to consult your handbook before committing to these PTO hacks.
