Moody's now expects PH to miss GDP target

MOODY'S Analytics has revised its outlook for Philippine economic growth, on Wednesday saying that the target for this year and the next will likely be missed. Gross domestic product (GDP) growth is now expected to hit 5.9 percent this year, down from the 6.0 percent previously projected, and then slow to 5.8 percent in 2026, also lower than the previous forecast of 6.1 percent. The revisions mean that the Moody's unit, which focuses on non-rating activities, sees GDP growth falling below the government's 6.0- to 8.0-percent goal for both 2025 and 2026. "The main challenge
