    Preparing the Camera Attaching the camera strap Pull the strap tight so that it does not come loose. 10 EN Charging the battery The battery charger included (AC cable or plug-in type) differs depending on the region where you purchased the camera.     Setting the date and time The date and time set here are saved to image fi le names, date prints, and other data. Press the n button to turn on the camera. ● The date and time setting screen is displayed when the date and time are not set.

    Shooting, Playback, and Erasing Shooting with the optimum aperture value and shutter speed (P mode) In this mode, automatic shooting settings are activated while also allowing changes to a wide range of other shooting menu functions, such as exposure compensation, white balance, etc. as needed.

    To take the picture, gently press the shutter button all the way down while being careful not to shake the camera.     When the subject is dark, noise reduction is automatically activated. This approximately doubles the shooting time during which no other pictures can be taken.   • Page 18 Shooting with automatic settings (G mode) According to the scene, the camera automatically selects the optimal shooting mode from [PORTRAIT]/[LANDSCAPE]/ [NIGHT+PORTRAIT]/[SPORT]/[MACRO]. This is a fully automatic mode that allows the user to take pictures using the best mode for the shooting scene simply by pressing the shutter button.

    Adjusting the brightness (Exposure compensation) The standard brightness (appropriate exposure) set by the camera based on the shooting mode (except for G) can be adjusted brighter or darker to obtain a desired shot.   • Page 25 Optical zoom and image cropping are combined to zoom in for shooting (FE-5010/X-915: up to 31x, FE-5000/X-905: up to 28.5x). This function will not reduce the image quality since it dose not convert the data with fewer pixels into the data with larger pixels.

    Printing Direct printing (PictBridge By connecting the camera to a PictBridge- compatible printer, you can print images directly without using a computer. To fi nd out if your printer supports PictBridge, refer to the printer’s instruction manual. PictBridge is a standard for connecting digital cameras and printers of different makers and printing out pictures directly.
