Fire Away is a Survivathon minigame in Super Mario Party Jamboree. Its name is based on an informal expression used to permit someone else to begin asking questions.

Introduction[edit]

The camera pans over all of the player characters standing on individual platforms. The screen shakes, and lava rises to submerge the platforms, causing the characters to jump onto a metal pole in shock. Impostor Bowser then flies in a Koopa Clown Car behind the poles and snaps a finger, causing a Bullet Bill to fly by. He then chuckles as the minigame begins.

Gameplay[edit]

Each player is placed on a pole above a lava pit. In Koopathlon mode, the players are sorted by their current position—the player in first is placed on the far left pole, and the player in the last, 20th position is placed on the far right. Once the minigame begins, the lava at the bottom of the pit slowly starts to rise. Players must continuously climb up the pole in order to survive. As players ascend the poles, Bullet Bills and Bomber Bills fly by; touching either, or the lava, results in elimination. Bomber Bills additionally destroy any Bullet Bills in their path. Alongside being able to climb upwards, players can also slightly descend the pole to aid their evasion. The minigame ends once either the 30-second timer ends, only one player is left remaining, or all surviving players are eliminated at the same time. Like with other Survivathon minigames, the objective is to survive the minigame rather than to win it—survival is considered as either being a remaining player after time runs out or being the only surviving player at any point.

Ending[edit]

If at least one player survived, the surviving player(s) cheer(s) on a rock platform while Impostor Bowser throws a tantrum, with failing players depressed on the sideline. If no players survived due to simultaneous elimination, Impostor Bowser instead celebrates.
