The following printables contain nets of common 3D shapes that your child should know. Each net sheet is available both with and without tabs to aid sticking together.

Faces, Edges and Vertices Notes
There are differences in the definition of what a face is depending on which country you are in.
In some countries, a face is defined to be a flat surface and cannot be curved.
In other countries, it is possible to have curved faces.
This irregularity has a knock-on effect on edges, which are the place where two faces meet.
As a vertex is a place where two or more curves, lines or edges meet, this is also affected by ambiguities.
Different Definitions Create Issues!
The Problems with Cones
- A cone can either have 1 or 2 faces depending on whether you count the curved 'face'.
- A cone can also either have 0 or 1 edges depending on whether you count the curved 'face'.
- A cone can either have one apex or vertex, or none as there are no edges that meet together.
The Problems with Cylinders
- A cylinder can either have 2 or 3 faces depending on whether you count the curved 'face'.
- A cylinder can either have 0 or 2 edges depending on whether you count the curved 'faces'
